6 vignettes, all completely different, from the light and lively to the very dark. Personally, I really liked the very dark (but completely believable) brutal view of the old west in "Meal Ticket" with Liam Neesen. It reminded me of the short stories of Ambrose "Bitter" Bierce.

Also, Tom Waits really stands out as the old prospector, in All Gold Canyon, based on a Jack London story. I really liked all the episodes, but the last one seems a bit week in comparison. I would say it was akin to the type of "Ghost Story" that got traded over the prairie campfire long ago, but just couldn't equal what had come before.

I thought all six were very good. I might have liked Buster Scruggs the best because my dad loved Roy Rogers and Gene Autry. I thought it was a funny take on the singing cowboy but of course much more violent which was part of the joke.

Stephen Root is always good.

Meal Ticket stays with you, Harry Melling was very good.

I didn’t think The Mortal Remains dropped off a bit, thought it was good acting and good dialogue. It did take me till close to the end to figure out what was going on, which when I did made me like it more.

I watched them at my uncles house. I walked in and he was watching Andy Griffith with his grandson. I was lamenting the fall of entertainment culture, but joyful rural Oklahoma would be the last domino to fall.

Ten minutes later I’m watching someones fingers get shot off one by one.
