Almost had forgotten about it until my wife brought it up the other night.

Had sex with woman in a booth while his equipment manager was a lookout.
Paid for an abortion
Convinced his friend to marry her to keep her quiet

Good god we look at what Boeheim and Ol Roy do but is there anything more disgusting than Pitino and a school and fan base that basically embraced his behavior and gave the guy a raise?

It wasn't just his "friend" it was Tim Sypher the UL equipment manager. As I recall as Karen asked for more and more, Ricky was giving Tim bonus money and raises to keep up with the demands. Aside from the obvious moral deficiency, that was the crime in this fiasco - paying off his problem with state money, kind of like what his partner in crime Petrino did to get canned at Arky. At least Arky had enough sense to cut ties.

When the pressure got to be too much, turtleneck and the UL spin machine kicked in and turned Ricky into the victim.

It's a very simple answer. He is a coach at Uof L. Their football coach is no better. UofL is a haven for rapist and women beaters.

FTWORTH, Morals Clauses can include extra marital affairs as they are written specifically for the party that is being contracted. if the person is a known drinker, then the consumption of alcohol in public might be included (Babe Ruth famously has a morals clause prohibiting him from drinking). I develop agreements for professional sports and when we write agreements between a race team and an alcoholic beverage company, we very specifically write in language pertaining to the driver, owner and his crew behavior when consuming alcohol. There is also specific language pertaining to anything that might bring the company into a bad light, which Pitino certainly did. There is no denying that UL had the right to fire him with cause, but they chose not to. That's the point.

Jim Boeheim and Roy Williams say it's no big deal.

Typically they speak to criminal activity.
You really think that? You think most schools, besides UofL, want some sex scandal brewing on their campus, especially from a person "supposedly" a role model and father figure.

Good Lord man, wake up.

Nice deflection. You might want to consider joining the Hillary For President team.

Eddie was fired as was your fellow Texas, Billy Clyde. Billy's behavior, both to the team and public, had as much to do with his firing as his on court performance.

There is no way Pitino would still be coaching at Kentucky had he dragged our brand through the court system like he did UL. You know that and so does the rest of the world.

Eddie was fired for the Emory envelope and the probation that followed, not for his drinking. Billy Clyde was fired for losing, his behavior made the decision to do so, easier.

So...if someone attempts to extort money from Cal and it goes to trial, you believe UK will/should fire Cal for that reason?

I was thinking this the other day. I don't really care for Roy Williams, but he just inherited the traditions already being practiced there. No one will want to tarnish the reputation of one of the "all time greats" of college basketball. But, maybe Roy will retire before this happens.

The fact is both were fired and character or lack of it had a lot to do with it. Sutton's drinking led to many problems both on and off the court. The problems Billy Clyde had with insulting women and heavy drinking had everything to do with his being fired after two seasons. Do you think our AD would have fired him had he been an outstanding citizen after two seasons? How much did UK pay to buy out his contract? He would have survived another season or two had he been a man of character. He wasn't.

As far as Cal, I would have to know why he was being extorted. If he had sex in a restaurant booth and paid for a woman to have an abortion, then by all means fire his ***.

UofL's football coach was fired from Arkansas for an extramarital affair. Yes, it was combined with the fact he hired her at the school but he was still let go because he embarrassed the University. I don't think Pitino should of been fired but come on, he received no punishment, which is sad.

AGAIN...how much "extortion" was there when he was the one paying her hush money in the first place. Sorry, when you were paying hush money in the first place for your misdeeds...don't cry extortion when the price got too high.

Which is why I challenge anyone to name a scumier AD, basketball and football coach in one athletic department. You may find two (see UNC*'s AD and basketball coach), but UofL truly has the trifecta.,

No, he wasn't. He was fired at Arkansas for A) misusing his power with a subordinate, B) going around the school's official hiring process to hire his mistress, and C) lying to his boss. You throw in "bringing wanted and negative attention and publicity to the university" for good measure. Lots of coaches have affairs. I don't think that's any of the school's business.

The sin (where the university is concerned) is when you lie to them about your actions or when you misuse your power or university resources to suit your personal needs (and hence, put your employer in a very bad position by doing so).

Who really cares. Evidently, elite players with character are not going to UofLsucksville so parents must not want their kids being mentored by him. I'm sure he received a lot of grief from his wife (what man would not have). But, the fact is Dicktino is a flat out traitor and he continues to feel the pain every time he coaches against his Camelot. Payback is a b.

Risk of termination for a coach due to a morality or conduct clause is often lessened due to success on the court and is increased due to a lack of success, Bobby Knight and BCG are two great examples of both ends of the spectrum. Schools like U of L would (and pretty much has to) sell their soul to the devil to just try and get out of the shadow that is UK.

Abortion isn't illegal. So you'd call for Cal's firing if he paid for one of his daughters to have an abortion?

Just as other love affair for the p2 gang. Petrino is just as big of a joke. Who quits on their team in the middle of the nfl season via letter? And his motorcycle skills are maybe one notch hire than that of jay williams. Petino is a perfect complementary piece like batman and robin. If I was her husband and I knew pitino was banging my wife I'm not sure any amount of money would stop me from divorce. The funny thing is if cal said friends, comrades, bbn, lend me your wife, and you shall receive thy wish. There might be a fight or two from some fans(and you and I both know they are out there) who would get a divorce or fell left out if cal doesn't select their wife. Some I think call into the call in show lol.

Seeing that probably every Archdiocese has at one time or the other looked the other way and protected priest who were pedophiles, not celibate be it with women or men ... I seriously doubt that they would cast the first stone. Then there's that voice from my Christian upbringing...something about loving the sinner, hating the sin...that comes to mind.

You have to love the loser's argument FtWorthCat is making. Other people do bad things also so it is ok for me to be a pos. I am sorry you a corward blame it on your parents it seems to fit with your sensibilities. Idgaf, that UofL kept your hero Pitino. However, I wish your ilk would just come out already and embrace your Cardinals. This charade of you being a Cat fan has grown tiresome.

If prior to reporting it and going to trial Cal was paying the extortionist out of state funds, then yes, 100%. I don't think you really understand what happened here. Read up, son.

There was never any implication that Rick was paying Sypher using state funds. He was doing so from his pocket. Had Rick done so with state funds then he could have found himself on trial.

Far more Christians have been caught in affairs than atheists. So if your are not saying he is an atheist, are you saying he is something else? Christian,. maybe? Jew? Muslim? Hindu?

Every Christian leader I have ever heard about has been accused of dipping his wick outside of marriage. From popes and kings to evangelists and faith healers Christians put the 'extra' in extramarital, Why? Christians ALWAYS have forgiveness. There is none for an atheist.
