Oh look...one group of scientists disputing the findings of another in order to fit their narrative. Never seen this before.
The left always loves big government. Always.
More government, more taxes, more control and less freedom of people. That is their entire mindset for everything they push.
Here the issue with the climate alarm. We’ve literally been hearing about it for 25 years. The day after tomorrow, a great flick BTW, is over 20 years old. China and India produce like 75% of carbon emissions with absolutely no slowing down or even attempt to slow down as they’re still actively opening coal mines. So at what point am I supposed to still give a ****? I mean like seriously nothing has happened at all remarkable with the climate and I have no control over what China and India do so what the hell is everyone so passionate about? Just seems like it’s something a bunch of upper class snobs with no actually pressing issues in their life like to argue about. Which is better? Steak or Lobster?

2. Carbon released into atmosphere traps heat below.
3. Rising temperatures create more floods, droughts, hurricanes and tornadoes
4. Severe storms cost lives, raise insurance costs and add to the nation’s debt by the billion.
5. China is ahead of us in many areas of renewables. EV and solar for starters
6. All of Europe is heavy into renewables
7. South Korea is big into renewable energy
8. Japan is big into renewables. Especially hydrogen.
9. Australia is heavily invested
I'll let if go unless it turns into a Red V. Blue food fight. Keep it on the subject of climate and it's OK, no politics.

I watched this show on Netflix, called life on our planet. It was, to me, one of my favorite shows as I love stuff like that and nature docs etc. Anyway about 200,000 years ago, which is like 5 mins ago in terms of the age of the planet, we were in an ice age, so it seems to make sense that we are warming up as we’re coming out of it. When Pangea was around lots of places on earth averaged 140 degrees F. It’s seems the planet is constantly in flux. But either way, doesn’t it seem like unless China and India get on board, that we’re just spinning our wheels? And also I feel like the US has invested in renewables and EVs and such so what is everyone so up in arms about? Like what exactly are people wanting done? I just feel like it’s all very overblown. There’s a book I read called the Rational Optmist the detailed how the climate alarm stuff has been going on since the 1960s with still no huge event. So how long do we need to be alarmed?

Conserving energy and reducing pollution are very important IMHO. We can't forget to look at things in their full context though.
Who paid for the "science"? That is always the first question.

You can do what GJN has done. Go completely off the grid, never drive a car (not even electric) again (too much carbon emissions tied up in its creation - bikes and shoes from this point further. Might want to start making your own clothes, too. GJNorman is the real deal, not just someone who virtue signals repeatedly on message boards. The dude is clearly walking the walk, not just being annoying talking the same repeated talk.

It’s a hoot because the idea that we’re “ignoring the science” by not “following the science” when we just lived through an era when “following the science” was a byword for anti-scientific thought, censorship, and intellectual tyranny is a slap in the face to anybody who actually thinks scientifically.

If you want to go back to an era where the science was just removed a handful of years from predicting an ice age and hadn't reached it's next consensus, I found this weather channel local on the 8s simulator a couple of months ago.
This one is a WeatherStar4000. This version came out in the late 80s and fully implemented in the early 90s. Each local cable system had it's own hardware installed. Some smaller systems used this format until 2014.

Because no matter the cause it's never enough. There is always someone saying that more is needed. I have never seen anyone ever say that we have done all we can do on most major topics because if we stop talking about it people stop funding. 1. Climate Change is a hoax and renewables are the Green New Scam
2. The 2020 Election was rigged.
3. J6 was a beautiful patriotic outpouring of love
4. Vaccines are a hoax
5. Just yesterday, I learned that the Bureau of Labor Statistics also falsifies jobs reports, and is now a hoax

You asked me what I want us to do. I would like us to get back to trusting experts instead of politicians.
science has done a lot of good and to throw it out the window because of a pandemic is terrible.
For example:
Think of how far behind our medical community would be without science.
big oil doesn’t want us switching to renewables. So they buy politicians to get them to cancel climate bills.

But also, in this specific instance, what does trusting the experts mean or represent. As in, what are they wanting me personally to do exactly? And also, does what the experts are saying have the potential to be distorted or taken advantage of by politicians to pass policy that simply enriches them and their donors without significant impact to what the experts are advocating for?
Also, following the law of least effort, you can’t just simply dismiss COVID for the lack of trust in experts. It was an unmitigated disaster by the “experts” and is the most recent thing in people’s minds so naturally the “experts” will have to regain trust. It’s no one’s fault but their own. There are lots of examples of “experts” make rash policy decisions due to rash emotional reactions that have had a significant negative impact. Look up why there has been a spike in peanut allergies in the western world in the last 20 years if you’re interested. Sometimes the “experts” need to take a breath and say we’re not sure.

Damn, you should've said this when grown men on CI were having meltdowns and calling each other names over a beer can, a few Dr. Seuss books none of us knew existed, and indoor entertainment shows which mostly women seem to enjoy. It's always been a solid comeback and one that was needed during those turbulent times of beer cans and children's books I don't believe were still in circulation to begin with.
