@ramblingman: did someone say NIPL? From the second X post I shared:

Just imagine what the Chicago Catholic League could do alone? This is why I keep saying, private schools don't need the IHSA. Private schools need to generate revenue. Just imagine what they could do with smart business, marketing and game operators in a revamped athletic department and overall conference league department.

Mercy.

Trost has been off the RAILS lately. I've always wondered if he went through something traumatic has a high school student or something. How he talks to people and how obsessed he gets on certain topics is very interesting. Seems to have an underlying vendetta at times. It's getting old.

I agree with the sentiment. Let the H.S. kids run their broadcast clubs, get credit, learn the equipment, and figure out how to put on a show. It's great hands-on experience. But at the end of the day, the IHSA is a business, and this feels like a cash grab.

Honest question: What happens if a school says NO?

On any given Friday night, you can pull up a H.S. football game on YouTube and see 300–500 accounts watching, not including everyone else watching in the same room.

Those viewers have value. They're impressions that can be sold to advertisers looking to reach a very specific, hyperlocal audience. There's real money tied to that, so I understand why the IHSA wants a piece of it.

But come on, let the kids do their thing! They're learning valuable skills and providing a great service to their schools and communities. Why mess with that?

All Rice has to do is cut a check for $250. They are not exactly slumming it over there.

I believe it actually can be taken right from the financial report filed by Rice, don't even have to cut a check, but then Trost would not have anything o complain about...he is insufferable

If I recall correctly

the kids still run the booth… but you have to access it through the NHFS app rather than free on YouTube

I believe that there is some misinformation on that post

If Rice pays $250 then BRTV would get the rights to broadcast the game on Youtube.

Or they don't pay, BRTV can still do the broadcast and route it to the NFHS Network which is how many media outlets do this. Some even do audio only.

In my experience the NFHS product is inferior to the YouTube product so maybe it is just BRTV electing NFHS pay the expense of covering the game.

I highly doubt the $250 is the breaking point but more it not being on BRTV but some NFHS service. In the past BR paid the fee and it was on BRTV but maybe that is no longer the case.

I was told we at MC didn’t get a buyout option this time. I’m sure that’s the case for all.
St. Rita football and St. Rita HS twitter posting link to youtube stream for tonight. So that's interesting since I know you know your info. I also posted the youtube link in the Buffalo Grove at St. Rita thread
