Time to take a look...we got some good ones boys
The problem here is anything regarding making it more difficult for privates will pass since the overwhelming majority of those voting are public.2.5 multiplier is absurd. And when that doesnt satisfy people, do we just increase it more?
Rosarie (Aurora) with 200 girls would have a classification enrollment of 1000. Give me a break.
Quadrant rule makes no sense. Boundried schools are capable of competing with non-boundried, but not until the semis? Which quadrant gets to play the non-boundried in the semis? A lot of ambiguity in the language of that proposal. A potential 2-2 quadrant split is mentioned at one point. Does this mean that non-boundaried schools could potentially be guaranteed 50 percent representation in the state tournament? This proposal reads like school yard home run derby rules....
The privates are eventually just going to do their own thing. Time to resurrect the Prep Bowl to its former pre-IHSA glory?![]()
May be harder if one of the proposals passes. There's one where it would require a super majority of 66.7% to pass proposals versus the simple majority we have now.The problem here is anything regarding making it more difficult for privates will pass since the overwhelming majority of those voting are public.
If it gets to the ballot. A lot of stuff never gets that far.The problem here is anything regarding making it more difficult for privates will pass since the overwhelming majority of those voting are public.

The reasonings listed for the proposals on separation/limiting of private/public paths to finals, multiplier changes, transfers and residency sound like they have read this board.
Side note: shortening the games played for almost all other sports? WTH...not a fan. The language used for those sound like it was written with the help of a big IHSA twitter guy who is always stating #morethanJUSTgames
This is an expense reduction action especially now that shot clock operators also have to be paid in basketball. And the suburban conferences can no longer collude to fix the cost they pay officials across the board. This may be the one of the few proposals that I don't hate beside the common sense one on flag football. No way a soccer team should be playing 25 regular season games, and most don't.
It only makes sense if you win a ton of blowouts and can give a ton of minutes to 2nd string. Good rule to protect against unscrupulous coaches.
Both are great points and make sense. I suppose I just don't like it for the spring outdoor sports, which the weather sucks and can already hamper getting games in. Would prefer to not take more games away from those who want to play. Not sure it's needs to be a rule. Just because the limit is 35 games or whatever doesn't mean you have to play them. Play whatever you feel fits your situation best. This is an expense reduction action especially now that shot clock operators also have to be paid in basketball. Secondarily, it's a way to relieve the difficulty in finding officials (just because officials might be on every game doesn't mean there isn't a shortage).
As an official, I'd like to see teams take more practice time and get better by having fewer games as well. The quality of the game may improve.
Not necessarily. Those private schools are going to end up somewhere, and that somewhere is in the upper third of all tournament brackets. There’s a reason that this stuff usually gets shut down. I’ve got a friend that’s an A.D. at a larger public school. Do you think the majority of 6A, 7A, and 8A football schools want to have their bracket flooded with more private schools? Same thing for 3A and 4A in all other sports. Not to mention the large number of public schools that run competent athletic programs and compete just fine. Not every private school is Mount Carmel, Loyola, etc. Most athletic administrators with a brain are able to realize that. The problem here is anything regarding making it more difficult for privates will pass since the overwhelming majority of those voting are public.
You are 100 percent correct. And for what it’s worth, there’s never been more cohesion and unity amongst the CCL members. It’s no coincidence that the CCL/ESCC merge occurred prior to this year for all sports, not just football. The girls conferences did the same. Separation is obviously not the goal, but they’ll be ready for it if and when the time comes. And the IHSA will be left with an empty bag.Saying this as an enjoyer of high school sports across all conferences and regions of the state:
You push the private schools out, they will only become more powerful and desirable. I do not have answers to how to make things "more equitable" but do not underestimate the connections and reach that these Catholic/Private schools have in the Chicagoland area
