You're kidding right?
I have no idea if he has NBA aspirations but if he has success at Iowa and does have those aspirations, why not?

I don’t see him leaving for another college program any time soon.

I'm not worried Ben is going anywhere for 2 reasons:

1. He's already stated on multiple occasions that Iowa is his destination job. He loves the Hawks and wants to build a legacy here.
2. Beth is a skilled AD who I have no doubt will take care of Ben and what he needs to be successful. I also don't really see her leaving.....certainly not anytime soon.

For grinder ball, I can say I never get bored watching them play because there is so much movement. It's not like watching Wisconsin throwing rocks and punching people in the nuts. It's deceptively grinder because it looks a lot like a high tempo offense. It's just a lot of passing.
And here I thought I'd never be forced to remember Brad Davison lol

I mean cmon guys. We play the slowest tempo in basketball, which doesn’t bother me a bit but do you think guys in the NBA are going to want to grind down the shot clock every possession for 82 games? He’s a really really good college coach. He also has a very effective system that works but the NBA is just different. All I’m saying.

Also, judging by the type of player Ben likes to recruit.. Players that are wanting to be a part of something greater than themselves (the team) instead of it being all about them, I wonder if coaching an NBA roster would really even appeal to him all that much. I could be totally wrong and I don't know the guy, but it seems like Ben is much more the college type of coach.

And you can add just in basketball George Raveling and Ralph Miller.
There was more to Raveling's departure. As a single Black man, he felt uncomfortable in a relatively small Iowa City. He also was criticized by fans for not wearing a suit and tie on the sideline, something they had become accustomed to seeing with the always impeccably dressed Lute Olson. Some of his coaching tactics came under fire, such as allegedly having some players wear diapers at practice. You couldn't get away with that today. His substitution patterns also were questioned.

Yes I realize that. That happened when I was a wee lad. But he did leave on his own accord. I guess the same technically could be said about Alford. I think the two scenarios for leaving are like comparing apples to oranges tho.

I think something more worthwhile to wonder about is what happens if North Carolina offers to double TJ Otzelberger's salary? I'd sure hate to see then get kicked in the sack again.

I keep seeing people mention grinder ball. First watching it does not seem like grinder ball because of how much movement there is in the offense. Second if he has 5* players he will run a faster tempo offense, but Ben is smart enough to know that if you are going to win with the team he has now you have to play this way.

I think he needs a splash in the portal to land another stellar PG, and then with recruiting he is going to start building something special as he proves he has it at the Power 4 level.

Did we play faster versus all the terrible teams we played non con?
