I've just decided- and I think you might agree,

Look here.

Illinois produced 10 NFL draftees last year - eith most in the nation. I think if we compared our state with the states above, no one would say we are on par with them year in and out.

And the teams with less NFL draftees, I'd say consensus is we are better than them.

So no disagreements, right?

Does your wife know that you have all this free time on your hands?

Happily single father of nearly grown women who are in college.

I can do whatever the hell I want. In fact, a month or so ago, I watched game 7 of the 1982 World Series during dinner. Just because I wanted to.

Now, I’m about to load my Weber Kettle with 20 chicken legs. Because that’s what I want for dinner and a few lunches this week.

Interesting. Obviously IL is still one of the larger states, but punching right at about its weight with just under 4% of draftees and an estimated 3.85% of the population.

Louisiana way out producing its share.
1.41% of population and 6.25% of draftees (4.4xmultiple). GA 3.18% and 11.3% (3.5 multiple) also strong.

You sound really bitter. My wife makes whatever I want and I get to watch whatever I want. Only thing she complains about is me working to much and thinks I a bit nuts talking on Edgy. Lol

How you interpret and what I intended to covey could not be further from opposite.

I’m not bitter - that was a celebration statement that I can do whatever I want.

If/when I want a life partner, I can find.

I’m more interested in short-term relationships for the time being.

Based on Maxpreps and the National Guard polls the best teams in Illinois weren't listed in the Top Fifty coming in at 58, 62,63 !

Also guys it's pretty simple.....the 2019 was not a very good recruiting class here in Illinois and I don't see a big upswing anytime soon.

Took the data and put into Excel real quick -
  • American Samoa ratio is 23.6 (if added to population % used)
  • IL is 19th best ratio at 1 (I used 2016 Projected Census Data, not 2010, our population has been dropping in this state)
  • IN is the largest state population wise to not have a draft pick
  • TX is 15th on the ratio list
  • CA is 24th on the ratio list
  • NY is the lowest ratio out of states with a draft pick - 0.13
So this data doesn't tell me anything helpful in settling best high school football state. However, I'm curious if you were to look at concentrated areas how much better the greater NOLA area is than everywhere else based on the last draft. Majority of the kids that are recruited out of that state come from within half an hour 45 minutes from NOLA. I'd be curious to see numbers of NOLA kids that graduated in TX, GA and AL that families were displaced from Katrina. They would only been like 4 or 5 though so I don't think it would matter, but just curious.

That’s thinking a step beyond what I gathered - diaspora of talent queered the numbers. I love it! Likely very true social analysis that never occurred to me.

Keep in mind that these stats are just for one year. A multi-year average would be more accurate. Total number of D1 scholarships awarded probably a better measurement of best HS football states.
