Cards finished strong and looked better each game. The team is so young, and the future is so bright.

One little known fact is that on offense this year, a senior skilled player did not touch the ball on a single play. EVERY one of the playmakers will be back. Projections look like a total of 17-18 starters returning with a year of conditioning, practice and experience. Florida State at home is HUGE. Clemson will be the biggest obstacle.

Petrino and Grantham are building something special. If Jackson can become an accurate passer he becomes a legitimate heisman candidate to be mentioned to be invited to New York. All the other skill players are back.

Burgess and Rankins are gone, but lots of talent to step in. 2016 could be a magical season for the Cards, and if recruiting continues 2017 could be even more special. Jackson will be a junior, and the season opener will be against Bama. Chance to make an impact statement in the first game with a loaded roster.

The next couple of years are going to be a great ride. I honestly think that the cards will have the opportunity to better the sugar bowl blow out of Florida.

Alabama does not play Louisville until 2018.

Bama opens with Southern Cal next year and Florida State in 2017.

Having Clemson (Hopefully 2015 national champions) Florida State, and Houston on next years schedule in addition to several starters returning potentially sets the stage for a very interesting year. Playing the SEC bottom feeder to close out the regular season does little to boost the SOS but I must admit its fun ending their season with a loss especially in front of their fans.

Hopefully any recruits (committed or on the wish list) will take note of what's on the horizon.

Offensively, Louisivlle will be very good, they still maybe a year away from being great. The offensive scheme has been addressed on this board, watch Stanford. That is exactly what Louisville will try to do over the next several years. We will start seeing multiple formations from under the center and from the gun. I love watching Stanfords offense. We saw it in the bowl game, but Louisville is no where close to Standford execution wise at this point. Jackson is Louisville's version of McCaffery. Louisville needs an explosive running back. It is the one position that needs more speed. They have the power game in Smith, Radcliff, and Scott they need to add a home run threat. With Jackson ability to go the distance anytime having another game breaker in the backfield would do wonders for the offense. I promise you teams are going scheme to take Jackson a way next and force the other backs to beat them on the ground.

Offensive line, I keep seeing Hughley is a junior but people keep saying he isn't coming back. They have to find someone regardless because he has been the weak link in that line.

The other thing is a backup has to be ready...Jackson is going to get banged up.

Defensively, we will have to see what happens with the NFL guys. With them all back, JHC being the easiest to replace, the defense will only get better. They will have good depth across the board.

I wouldn't expect to see Young next year making Fields staying a big deal. Give Fields a full summer of and fall of practice he could become a nightmare for other teams. GG Robinson will be an interesting one to watch.

The interior line with Brown, will really be deep. Bailey, Richardson, Shortridge, Williams, and whoever else I missed is a really good rotation. It won't hurt too bad if Brown leaves.

Inside LB, Kelsey leaving will hurt the most on paper because who knows who can play that position. Brown could move back to the middle and probably should, he is out of position on the outside. Thomas filled in nicely for Burgess. I am sure they have plenty of options but they will be inexperienced.

Secondary, Wiggins is solid and will only get better. Washington is the weak link when playing better receivers. Alexander could make a real push for that spot but they still need other guys to step up. The JUCO CB will be interesting to watch in the spring. Safety, no worries there is an embarrassment of talent at that position. Williams had a very nice year, needs to work on catching the ball. He probably dropped 6 interceptions this year. JHC the question for him is he ready to be play hard every down? A motivated JHC coming back would be great, not the player he was this year. He is too talented to not impact every game. He really only had an positive impact in two games. The ceiling for him is really high but they have kids that can play behind him. Losing him doesn't hurt.

They have an opportunity to be really good next year, too early to tell at this point.

I'm with you Kratz. I am looking forward to NSD, hoping for some (pleasant) surprises. Then spring drills in April, fall drills in August, and before you know it, the season is here! Here are some questions for next year:
  1. QB-What growth will we see from LJ after a full off-season and spring? Who will stick around for depth (Kyle? Will?). Will Pass and/or Oden RS?
  2. OL - do we get a center? Do we develop depth? Does Hughley improve? Do we get one more incoming OL?
  3. How many starters do we lose on D? Are the replacements ready?
  4. Are the new kicker and punter up to the job? Who handles kickoffs?
  5. Are there staff changes? If so, who are the replacements?
A lot to think about in the off season; and a lot to post about. I look forward to - should be fun!
