Liked what he had say and liked the way he answered the question on leaving.

It's going to be good for WV.

I’ll give him the opportunity to earn my support. Not that I have any other option lol, but I do think at some level he does regret how that all went down so it’s a good first step. Also trashing Marshall and Pitt is always a way to get a cheap pop as they say.

I find the trash towards Marshall and Pitt humorous even though I am in a far minority of not doing it myself often. I dislike VT, OSU, Maryland and Kentucky way more than Pitt and Marshall. Maybe because I have good friends that are very cool from those two schools and everyone I know from the four I despise are jerks at all times.

I agree with the Marshall comments. I’ve never understood playing them. It’s a lose lose for us. We win, who cares, we are supposed to. We play a close game and win it’s a loss for us. We lose it’s devastating. I don’t understand the draw for this game especially from the WVU side.

I thought it was cool to schedule them a few times in the 90's. But once politicians got involved in it, I was 100% against it. Now basketball and other sports, schedule it imo.

Awesome! He is going to give it his best shot and there is no doubt about that. I think in the right situation he can be an elite level coach and we are the right situation. With Pat McAfee and Kendrick on board, I believe he will take this to greater heights than we've had in the B12 so far. The playoffs and a run are possible with this situation.

I'm hopeful we can challenge for the Big 12 title and the CFP by year 3. Possible year 2 but I will remain a little cautious on getting my hopes up that quick.

I'm not and never was in favor of the hire but it is what it is. Winning cures a lot of ill will.

The problem is that when you put someone on a pedestal, like quite a few fans on here are doing, if it crashes it may take you down with it.

But, the results will speak for themselves. Either he comes in and starts winning 8+ every year or he doesn't. We got him on the cheap so maybe we luck out. Until then, its all talk...

Let's revisit next December. Then, we'll have a better idea of the direction the program is heading.

Pastilong and Manchin engineered the series. Doc was hired to beat WVU in Huntington in 2010. Would have happened if not for the Tron Martinez fumble. Ollie pulled the plug on it and Huggy pulled the plug on the basketball series after Danny D'Antoni's diss of him. The ONLY way Marshall plays WVU in football is if we end up in the Sun Belt. After today, KK and the other money people will NEVER allow that to happen.

Tbone61 is the biggest hypocrite on the board. All in says hypocrite Tbone61. I won't embarass you by bumping old threads, since I've always been a fan of yours since the invention of the internet.

Dangerous Dan, still the same lame game. Same lame since 2010. Dan, tell me how my friend Sistersville is doing. I remember putting knots on his head back in the FHS Pirate days when we were the dominant, most feared team in WV.

Hype is the kryptonite of WVU football.

Quite the opposite. Neal Brown was the kryptonite of WVU football. Even under Holgs we won exciting games that had a big hype buildup. Only under Neal does hype fail and not matter. You literally don't know what you're talking about.

My take from his press conference was that he said the things that needed to be said. If he would have totally ignored the questions on leaving for Michigan, or if he would have said "I don't want to talk about the past", then I believe that would have given some people more fuel to continue bashing on him. But when he came out several times with the "I made a mistake" and "should have never left" statements, that will go a long way in healing wounds.

I'll be honest, when he left, I couldn't stand the guy. I thought he turned his back on all of us. But after several years, and more maturity, I understand that in life sometimes you make difficult decisions, and sometimes those are wrong. But if any of us were offered to do the same job that we are doing now, for double the money and triple the opportunity, we would ALL make that move. For everyone of us to believe that "he's a WVian and should stay at WVU" mindset was wrong. Now, for the things that happened AFTER his decision (ex. lawsuits and trying to get out of buyout), I get and understand the vitriol from our fans. Divorces can be ugly, but hopefully time heals all wounds.

It was a horrible loss. It devastated not only Rich and the team, but every WVian statewide. You can argue it destroyed the program and I would agree. That’s why Rich needed this and why we needed this. If he fails here, at the very least it will be closure. If you don’t want to support him and the program, that’s your right. Now get out of the way.

I am celebrating the 40th anniversary of Sistersville beating Fayetteville's butt. I think Joel Wilson scored again.

Nothing quite like a 25 year old man, 6 foot 2, 249 lbs, working in the mines during the day and playing high school football at night. He's probably enjoying getting on Medicare now, while the good guys continue to work.

Who's Tbone61?

"Those without sin cast the first stone" is a phrase from the Bible, specifically John 8:7, where Jesus says "Let him who is without sin among you, cast the first stone at her," essentially meaning that only a person completely without sin has the right to judge or condemn another person, it's a call for forgiveness and understanding as everyone makes mistakes.

I feel the same way. Was not happy with the hire, however I liked what he said, and at the very least deserves a chance to right the ship.

I'm not big on re-treads, however if he wins, I'll be fully back.

I liked a lot of what he said, specifically about the slouching. That was a good message.

On Friday that one commentator said that the fanbase would give Rich 1 1/2 to 2 seasons to turn things around. I say he has 3 games. He gets beat by Pitt at home, he will be run out of town.

Transfer portal and NIL he should have winner 1st season. Agree he should be 3-0 to start.

I think he will be given at least 3 years. If a place like Wvu is going to be firing coachs after two seasons then no one is going to want to come here. I do think he will be on a much shorter leash than Holgorsen and Brown was.

I don't think we will be that good next season. We will be transitioning to a new system. The transfer portal can help speed up the process but I don't think there is enough on this roster for Rod to have instant success.

He will get 3 or 4 years just as every coach should. Brown got too long and Rich definitely won't get that long. If you're moving an upward direction after 3, you get a 4th. If you suck after 3 you get canned. Doesn't matter who you are. It's just the way it should be despite the portal. Rich will win but I don't have expectations his first year. He doesn't know anything about the guys left of the roster this year. By the time he knows he's kind of stuck with them.

Rod will be allowed to retire here. I believe he will win, so it won’t matter. This is his finale. I’ll be surprised if he coaches longer than that 5 year contract he just signed. By that point, he will be 67. Who knows for sure, Bill Snyder was in his late 70’s at Kansas State. If we got 10 years, I’ll be very happy.
