With USC’s pathetic showing today, looks like our whole schedule is a bunch of tomato cans. Michigan will probably be our toughest opponent and they had trouble with Texas El Paso today.
It will be tough getting any slack from the CFP Committee with Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Maryland all getting blown out, USC, Rutgers, and Washington looking like crap, and Purdue with a loss to the ACC. At least Northwestern is pounding Colorado into dust.

And I agree our schedule isn't exactly murder's row but I don't pretend us beating Maryland is impressive so I'm not going to pretend anyone beating them is
I also don't think we've beat anyone with a pulse either nor did I claim we did.
Grunk makes throws as a redshirt sophomore in his 11th (?) start that are extremely good. He can lead a running back on a flat throw as good as anyone in college today. Vegas has not caught on to how good his overall game is at this point, and Va Tech bets have been lock city. We needed Rocco for 2026, but this will sting in 2027 -2028. Reynolds development is the biggest surprise. His hands, movement, blocking looked great last night. He looks like a legitimate 2nd round or better pick if he comes out.

Rapp is the better blocking TE. So keeping him instead of Reynolds (in concert with bringing the ISU room) is understandable. I also understand why plugging in Becht for a year worked. That should not preclude anyone from acknowledging that Grunk and Reynolds are damn good.
Deep down, I wish for Franklin to lose every game just like I rooted for Bowden to lose every game when he was competing with Joepa for the most wins. I am a very nice person on the outside, but my fatal flaw is that I am as bitter as they come.
My family and I enjoyed so many bowl trips and the memories around PSU football, while Joe and James ran the program. I prefer to look at 104-45 for the positives and anticipate that Matt Campbell will do better. I've never had any luck with bad juju. I mean, I have a hard time with Kraft and he's still hugging everyone and lurking in locker rooms.
I think the expanded playoff (and perhaps the fact that all the major conferences are paying their players) has changed the landscape of college football. Think NFL. Wins are more important than losses, but we see 4-7 loss teams reach the playoffs. I don't think there is a need to go undefeated with the current set up.
I wouldn't bet against Ohio State, Oregon, LSU etc. garnering a playoff spot. PSU's schedule is short term a gift and long term could sting. It's true they may have to go 11-1 with the SOS as is. Hopefully the field isn't crowded with 10-2 teams, because I think a 10-2 Alabama and or LSU (for example, due to schedule) would get the nod.
If PSU doesn't get in this year, it could be awhile.
Expanding to 24...shouldn't be awhile plus this was never meant to be a playoff year with or without Franklin
You think Marshall, Temple and Buffalo are anywhere close to the same test as Maryland? Of course Maryland isn’t a juggernaut but the first 3 teams Penn State has played are tomato cans.
I don't think any of those teams are decent including Maryland. I would expect to beat them by more than 9 and not have to be thankful for two fail PATs

He was again the beat all around back yesterday. Watch him in pass protection and even the block on the TD run by Howard
The depth chart at RB didn't change yesterday. Q had one big run that showed he lacks elite speed and was 9 for 39 on his other carries. Hansen and Peoples will play more because they're consistent.
Why did you think yesterday changed something? Didn't I say all week Hansen could run for 300 and it wouldn't mean anything?

Not even a team that is coming off two losing seasons in a row with a 3-9 record last year…it’s not like we’re talking about Ohio State here.

Va Tech looks like a 9-3 or 10-2 team so far--just like we do--but that doesn't mean beating Maryland by 9 is "impressive"

Regnolds the one transfer I wish would have stayed. But TE is well stocked here. I was listening to the game driving around last night (Maryland feed) and they were dumbfounded by the defensive calls.
How do you know? We don’t know how good the opponents are due to the portal. It’s really not that tough to understand.
