Of growing up as a white dude, nor should anyone be ashamed of whatever color they are, or in CR89's case, whatever color he happens to associate with on any given day.

I grew up poor, and had the opportunity to either remain that way, or strive to make something of myself. I chose the latter, and everyone else can do the same. If I could do it, so can everyone else.

Don't be ashamed of your particular race. Walk proudly and treat others the way thy want others to treat you.

Regardless of the color of your skin, it's up to you how you choose to carry yourself. It's time to move beyond the divisiveness and move as one country to make this nation, and particularly yourself, as great as you possibly can do.

Speaking of Charleston, saw some Facebook posts yesterday, one of a couple meth heads fighting along the main drag of Kanawha City, and another of a couple whacked out on heroin on the banks of the river. My friend tells me Kanawha City is just awful these days, and although there was never much there (back in the day), I always felt it was the better area of the Charleston metro area (not counting the elite GOP that lives on the hill)

Just to clear up the confusion, I live in the Kalamazoo Michigan area. I'm not a Herd fan, but at times, had to pretend being one, since I started posting on the Herd smack board many years back. From WV, so I post on both WV school forums. Non-WV affiliated forums don't allow the same level of assholiness that seems to be okay in WV.

Now, are the rest of you okay with being white, brown, or black? Or, are you ashamed of being whatever color you happen to be?

I never considered my whiteness much until the last couple of years. Now wear it as a badge of honor since being called out as a bigot, racist, white nationalist and a few other "ist" titles hurled by the Dim/lib/socialists since it defines me as being "not one of them"...

I said you can get by with being an ******* on these forums, whereas, on pretty much every other forum, mods will ban you if you say something they don't like.
