If you believe that Dowell Loggains was #1 on the list, I don't know what more I can say. The tight ends coach who was run out of the NFL and once voted the worst offensive coordinator in the NFL was our first and only choice? Don't you hope Beamer is lying? If he isn't lying, then this program is exactly what it looks like, a pathetic weak sister in a conference it doesn't belong. If Loggains works out, great, but he is going to have exactly 0 patience from the fan base if we struggle. If we go scoreless against UNC, I doubt you'll be convinced he is the guy.
We don't know what happened behind the scenes. It's possible both of you are right. What if Beamer: 1) didn't offer Riley, 2) interviewed several other candidates, 3) was rebuffed by a more established candidate, and 4) picked Loggains who he also liked.

Coach Beamer said he did not offer Riley, and that we got our man. Is he lying?
He said similar about Satterfield, did he not? That being said. While I wanted Riley, I'm excited to see what Loggains can do and pulling for him immensely.

Really?? based on what??

Lawrence won the NC his freshman year so you got Clemy winning the Natty next year huh??

Lawrence did not make the same mistakes Klubnik has made in his first few games
The National Title was won by a great team with first round draft picks like Etienne, Isaiah Simmons, AJ Terrell, Wilkins, Ferrell, Dexter Lawrence, and other top picks like Tee Higgins, Mullen etc. It was stacked with talent. While he had a charmed 2018 season as a freshman, Trevor started his sophomore 2019 season in a very rocky way, throwing 5 interceptions in his first three games of the season. 8 interceptions in the first 8 games. While Lawrence certainly has talent, so does Klubnik. Both make mistakes as young qbs.

That I agree with. I don't believe we can ever out-recruit UGA, BAMA and some of the others in the SEC, consistently anyway. I think my thought process there is realistic, too, unfortunately. I'd like to believe that Shane will overachieve with the talent he puts on the field. His first two seasons here give me hope that he will do just that. As Churchill once said, "The future is unknowable, but the past should give us hope". If he can continue upgrading the talent, that, too, gives hope. His Dad, Frank, was never a great recruiter. He was a good recruiter. But, his forte was "coaching". I believe that Shane is proving to be a "chip off the old block" when it comes to "coaching". That being said, I THINK Shane is a stronger recruiter than Frank was. BUT, I believe that if Shane is going to make South Carolina nationally relevant, he is going to have to do it by outcoaching opponents. They used to say that "Bear Bryant can beat you with his players. And he can take your players and beat his". Hopefully, Shane will show that kind of coaching ability.
I agree with all of that and hope Shane can continue to overachieve and basically work his way on up. We will see; the whole NIL and transfer portal has me disillusioned with all of it for the most part, it has changed everything.

My speculation is that Briles was Beamer's target. No proof; just speculation. There was some talk that Briles and Pittman had a falling out. Thus, Beamer went after him. When Briles decided to stay after he got a nice raise, Briles convinced Beamer that Loggains would equally get the job done for us. That has been my thought from the get-go. And I'm sticking to it.
I would be happy that SB finally recognized (2 years too late) that K. Briles is an immense talent to nab....AND tried to go after him. I'm hoping for the best with Loggains and also hoping he will incorporate plenty of veer n' shoot and tempo in for our offense next year to give it some dimension.

Nope....Satterfield was the 2nd late option after Bobo and Will Friend decided to go to Auburn.
