We have certainly dominated Wisconsin in the off season

2013 NU 17th - W 57th
2014 NU 32nd - W 33rd
2015 NU 31st - W 37th
2016 NU 24th - W 35th
2017 NU 20th - W 35th

FIVE WINS IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yep. Even Sipple has given up on the recruiting hype. Never thought I'd see him off the MR sunshine bandwagon.

Badgers are fourth in wins over the past four years behind only Bama, Clemson and OSU but nobody EVER thinks Wisconsin is any good.

Wisky is good, but they were begging us for a good game last night.

In fact, if we score on the first possession and play with passion down the stretch, I could have cared less the outcome.

But we didn't. Came out listless. Defense and officials held us in there for awhile, then another crater.

But yes, Wisky is sound. Who knows how good they really are, because Nebraska isn't good football team. Average at best.

What 18 year old recruit wouldn’t? No matter what college they visit??? How many years have you/we been saying the big time recruits were loving it :)

Our core group of recruits are showing no signs of wavering. They were at the game having a great time. At most, some appear to be considering visits because we fired our AD and a good chunk of our fanbase is screaming for the coach they love to be fired. Our staff has built a very tight relationship with these guys and they deserve credit for that.

Paper tigers without coaching.

Riley was supposed to coach us up and prevent lopsided losses like this. He was a coach that was said to be able to take marginal talent and produce big upsets against teams that had a lot more talent. He was a coach that was supposed to be able to manage a game and keep his team from making costly mistakes.

Coach Riley has represented Nebraska in an excellent manner unlike our previous coach but he has failed to live up to the other expectations that we had. Having interceptions for touchdowns in our 1st series to start the game (against two different teams) when we were moving the ball and getting ready to score is just unacceptable.

Nebraska needs to go back to playing hard nosed football. The fans deserve to have a product on the field at least as successful as a Michigan State or a Wisconsin and should feel comfortable going into a game against Ohio State with the feeling that we had a good chance for an upset win. At least with Pelini I had that feeling regardless of all the baggage that he carried with him.

It is time IMO that we need to hire a new coach who is innovative and is not stuck trying to run an offense (with mediocre results for the most part) that he has used for the last 30 years. Osborne had to change from a Power I to the option to beat the elite teams like Oklahoma and the teams in the SEC. Devaney needed changes to his offensive and defensive philosophies and revamped recruiting to beat Alabama and Bear Bryant who had previously owned him.

I don't care who the new coach is as long as he brings an identity back to the program again that relies on offensive innovation and defensive toughness.

Barry Alvarez is to Wisconsin what Bob Devaney was to Nebraska. Guys who were great head coaches who became great athletic directors.

Yep. The jackasses up here posting that Riley just needs more talent and all will be well need to realize that Riley’s roster has more “talent” on it that Chryst had last night. At least to start with.

Development is a huge part of “talent”

I just hope I don't have to Google search our next head coach.
It certainly impacts investment into the program. I stopped watching games, going to games, and giving money to the program because they were spending millions on non-winners with no chance for sustainable growth. I literally could not think of a more pathetic hire...almost like Eichorst was trolling the program.

No excitement at all about the hire.

JHC shut up recruits don't know crap about the AD nor do they care.
It's a nice convenient excuse for you when recruits bail on Riley if he starts losing more and more games. I called it, knew you would, best thing to happen for Riley apologists is the AD being fired now they have yet ANOTHER excuse.
Newsflash: players wanna play for a winner. Riley does a good job gettin em in the door. Getting them to stay takes winning.
No matter how much we hear it doesnt matter to recruits, overall it DOES. Nobody is going to play for someone they don't think can win. Regressing in year three is not good for recruiting, period.
If riley wins it'll be a great class. Start losing it won't be, even if he isn't fired.
Go find more excuses.

It's all about recruiting the beef up front on both sides of the ball. TJ Pledger would probably help us too.

Do you know much about Pledger? He is a little scat back, that goes down very easy. We need to start getting backs with speed and power. Ozigbo with more speed.

Yes, they do. You're a moron if you think otherwise.

Riley needs to win 6-7 games and hold the recruiting class together. If he does that he deserves another year.

"Deserves" another year? For winning six games in year three and getting embarrassed by NIU at home and mauled by Wisky (and probably OSU and PSU)? "Deserves"??????

I can see an argument made for keeping him based simply on how disruptive firing a coach is and for the fact his recruiting is decent. But I wouldn't say he would deserve to be rehired as if this shitfest of a season somehow "merits" a rehire. He has merited exactly nothing. He has accomplished exactly nothing. And in year three his team looks like crap. So fine... keep him on. But don't tell me he "deserves" it

Can't wait to see a loaded roster for the first time in many years. Should be fun.

Loaded roster? That will still require developing said talent. Also will probably require dumping guys like Langsdorf and Cavanaugh. Hell, it will require recruiting said talent. I wouldn’t exactly call our 2016 and 2017 “loaded.” I remember when Lamar Jackson was going to be the next big thing. Most physical DB in his class! I’m not sure if he’s gotten his jersey dirty this year.

What is "deserves" and what is "holding the class together"? There are 3 guys in this class that are coming to Nebraska no matter what...the Nebraska kids + Farniok. Now this program-changing class is down to 8. Also there's a kicker. Now this program-changing class is down to 7. Other than that, there are 3 3-star players. I'm counting them as replaceable by the possible new coach, though I'm not a recruiting expert. So we're down to 4 fellas that you think should stop any AD from firing a coach who doesn't win the part of football that actually counts, the real games? Jesus-tap-dancing-Christ...if that doesn't make you more of a Riley fan than a Nebraska fan, I'm not sure what does.

Exactly. Obviously, for some, on the field "results" mean nothing. Nothing at all.
