Good God - travel is killing me and keeping me away from edgy. life can suck as a jetsetter, you know.

After much consideration, I'm taking the brook in a 4th quarter victory. Most years, i say give me the hitters with a 4th quarter lead, and i'll give you a win. This season, week one, not going there.

It's funny, two yeas ago i thought brod the bod was overrated...last year, i think underrated.

I think GW is going to need a few weeks to figure out how to adjust from not having an offensive star. I think they will, i just think it's going to take a few...meanwhile I think brook, with its defense set, will be ready to hold off GW just enough for a fourth quarter win.

So happy that i'll be at this one.

Hitter fans - this will be the third time in four years i will be at your opener. I deserve a shirt - i know one of you is connected enough to make that happen...

Your vote of confidence set off a wave of dough flowing in on Brook and driving the spread down to 3.5.

Is that you grinding your teeth Bones?

(ask Palatine how "overrated" Sammy the Bull was in '14)

2. Glenbard West (Glen Ellyn)
Head coach: Chad Hetlet
2015 record: 14-0
Team preview

The defending Class 7A champion Hilltoppers also will be strong again, with four offensive and seven defensive starters back hoping for a repeat. Start with a pair of two-way senior standouts - Jackson Goleash(6-2, 195) and Dionte Moorehead (6-3, 225). Goleash had 34 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions last year and also will play some running back, while Moorehead had 27 tackles, five sacks and ran for 420 yards and five touchdowns. Senior linebacker Chris Langan (6-1, 205) made 54 tackles, two interceptions and recovered a pair of fumbles. Senior defensive back Justice Bradley (5-11, 150) had five interceptions. Senior guard Will Farley (6-3, 228) anchors a strong offensive line. Coach Chad Hetlet calls this "the fastest team we've had in the last 10 years."

I can't help with the GW shirt but if you want a shirt from MS let me know.

Also I'll take GW. Defense is their game and I think the Brook will struggle against them.

LOL at Bones liking the post.

I just have to see GW's offense go. I know first hand what it's like to have to replace an all-state solo RB. One thing that has made JCA such a successful running school is that there always seems to be an heir apparent. when you have a guy like brod the bod, whom you know you can count on in the crunch...it's hard to replace...mentally.

I understand that Hilltoppers need to stick together, but this is a blatant attempt to affect the game with bulletin board material... And i repudiate it.

Im glad MS4 sees through it.

Gotta stick to my guns. Brook by 8, but feel they just might be trailing going into the 4th quarter. I will be watching so much football on the 26th it will be crazy!

GW's offense works best when you don't know who the featured back is.

GW will never be Brook fast, and that is why I say Hetlet does more with less.

Brooks OL will outweigh GW's by 70lbs a man. Only hope is that smaller guys are faster than bigger guys and bigger guys have a tougher time getting out on the LBs

[EDIT] This is not to say we are a better team without Brods...that would just be stupid. Having Brods be the main focus helped free up other options. When teams dedicated too many guys to him, our QB and receivers stepped up with amazing games. When teams didn't, Brods ran wild. GW likely doesn't beat MC without Brods and the C-G records might stand for decades. Brods was a once a generation kind of kid and not easily replaced.

Its hard to pick against the Brook. As a fan I picked them in the Kings Challenge for a few years to make the title game. The year I didnt they win it all. Maybe it will work again not picking them against GW.

glad you added the edit..it gives the post perspective.

Is that true that brook outweighs GW 70lbs a man - and if that is so, is that an average due to some guy that weighs 874lbs? Or is brook's line really just bigger, literally, down the line?

@GoTitans86 stated in the other thread that Brook Oline avg 6'3" 290. GW Dline avg will be maybe 220 tops with Big Cat Dionte Moorehead heading the list at 235.

LMAO

this is crazy talk. People really believing AT THE SAME TIME that we will outweigh GBW by 70lbs per man simultaneously with we will be faster than the fastest GBW team ever

I heard our RB's can run 4.4 40's.............................backwards...........with a DL on their backs

What I see is:
T - Stephen 6'5' 300
G - Wilson 6'1' 285
C - Ivlow 6'2" 290
G - Parades 6'2" 270 (soph)
T - Eken 6'5" 290

Pretty sure that is an average of 6'3" 286 per kid for Brook and I know that 220 is likely too high for GW DL avg as Big Cat is biggest at 230.

Speed only matters if you have the confidence to accelerate into plays.

Bones,

You have at least 1 4.4 kid in I'Shawn Stewart. He ran sub 4.4 at Arkansas camp this summer. Granted he's not a RB rather a WR, but I have seen him put Mallory on his back and run with him in the past.

What do you say Double or nothin from last years bet...you can clean the slate

Backwards? With Mallory on his back?

Reminds me of 2010 vs Bellville East. Sure Bailey was one of the fastest guys on the field, but as a team those guys looked like someone pressed fast forward and we looked like slow mo. Everyone knows GBW is routinely one of the fastest teams around. I'm not buying that we'll be speedier, not for a second.

lol @ me ever betting against The Beloved
I'm just saying who should be the prohibitive favorite ;)

just saw 6 guys from the brook qualify for the 1500 meter breath-stroke. That's amazing for athletic type!

Actually, Stephen will be playing left guard, Wilson will be playing center, Ivlow will be right guard & Parades at right tackle. Heard they were shifting them around, but I believe they will be just fine. Ivlow is a 4 year veteran on the O Line with 2 other returnees & I know they will get the job done.

So with nearly 1,500 pounds of bad@ss paving the way for Thunder and Lightning in the backfield and all-world WRs, the big question comes dow to whether Brook has the QB to keep all these studs well fed.

Youre not going to be able to sway the masses that the #8 team in thr midwest is going to lose to or even have a close game with a team who was 5-5 the previous year. No amount of propaganda will be able to accomplish what youre attempting.

Preseason rankings mean squat. Last year Loyola was #11 in IL preseason.

Line is down to GW -2.5
