Greetings All,

In order to enjoy a football game, like many here I suppose, I need to figure out who I will root for before it is worthwhile watching a game. (assuming I don't bet on the game, which certainly tells me who to root for) :)

Most of the time the choice is easily made. Whether it be the underdog, a team with an interesting story, a team I despise, a team in conference... you name it.

However, I am torn who I will root for when it comes to Iowa vs. Miss St. I figure it may be cathartic to post here with some positives and negatives and get board feedback to help me make a decision. Hopefully this will be fun.

Here is what I came up with.

Iowa Pros for rooting for them:
1. They are in B1G (slightly important, but I will never be one to chant "Big Ten". Never did with Big 12 or Big 8, but usually wanted them to do better than the other conferences. Unless you were Mizzou, Texas or CU since they all disgusted me for various reasons)

2. They are the underdog
3. They are not in the south
4. They are not in SEC, which is often over-rated and pumped up by secESPN
5. I don't hate Kirk, decent enough coach who if he left they would fall into the abyss.
6. The program and their leadership doesn't disgust me yet
7. Middling program, so I don't feel a need to knock them down a notch with a loss.

Miss St. Pros for rooting for them:
1. Douchebag Iowa Message board fans (remind me of Mizzou message board fans)
2. Don't want to further inflate the overinflated egos of a fanbase for a middling program
3. I don't hate Miss St. coach (don't even know his name, maybe I do hate him)
4. Also a middling program, so I don't feel a need to knock them down a notch with a loss.
5. Beating Iowa will help shut up the Omaha Iowa fans to some extent until next season. Especially a bad loss to Miss St.
6. Doesn't compete for Nebraska Born Recruits
7. Iowa sucks ;)

Help me out folks. Having laid this all out, I think I'm leaning towards rooting for Miss St. and a total beat down at that.

Please help convince me that is the correct choice or convince me to change my mind.

Other B1G Games and who I will root for:
Minnesota vs. Georgia Tech (because they are B1G)
Miami (FL) vs. Wisconsin (My hate for Miami is strong. Attended the '83 Orange Bowl)
Purdue vs. Auburn (because they are B1G)
Florida vs. Michigan (close, but Michigan annoyed me by laying an egg vs. Ohio St.)
Michigan State vs. Oregon (I respect Mich St. coach and they are B1G)
Northwestern vs. Utah (Respect Northwestern Coach and they are B1G)
Kentucky vs. Penn St (Close on this one, but the bologna loss to Penn State when I was younger left me with a bitter taste. That freakin' out of bounds catch was infuriating. That could have been a NC year and Tom's first)
Washington vs. Ohio State (Love visiting Seattle, Washington and F Urban)

Kind Regards and GBR!

I like Oregon’s QB Herbert so I’d like them to win despite beating MSU.

Other wise i’m with you on all the rest.
Since the Herky like bragging about their 4 game win streak, I’d rather see them get whipped in another bowl game not named Pinstrip since we joined the conference in 2011..
