Imagine had we lost to EKU. Would stoops seat be hot right now?

Just wondering but imagine if we had never made that 'miraculous' comeback against a very poor division 2 team. And say we were 3-7 right now. Would stoops job be in jeopardy at the end of THIS season? Just curious as to what people think of that hypothetical scenario had that happened. Not tying to stir anything up its just a question. Thoughts?

Yes. That miracle win got him another year. Sad but true.
Yea I mean I wonder that. I also wonder if we make an undeserving bowl game at 5-7. Would some people try to argue that we've made improvement over last year since we made a bowl game this year even though with a losing record? Like i think regardless his seat is scorching hot to start next season. But I wonder if some people will give him more slack if we make a bowl game at 5-7. I honestly think we shouldn't accept a bid if we finish 5-7 if offered it's rewarding players and coaches for a very poor performance thru out the season and I just think it would send the wrong message to the players making them feel like they don't have to play even halfway decent to make a bowl game. Would people seriously give him more slack if we finish 5-7 and go to a very undeserving bowl?

The first five games you could change one play in each and we're 5-0 or 0-5. That's no margins for error on anyone's part/players or coaches.

A loss to EKU is much different than a game against a team like auburn that could've gone either way. A loss to EKU would've been very detrimental to this program. So you don't think his seat would be hot had we not had the comeback against a very lowly EKU team?

Not trying start arguments just wondering what people's thoughts on that are.

Oh, I don't know about that.

Anyone connected with the team would be stupid to not want to go to a bowl game under any circumstances, our young players need it too badly, and any players that wouldn't want to play in it aren't ever going to help us that much anyway.

I am usually the most contrary person on here, but JBeezy is just an ***. Can you say anything positive? What do you want. Who should play where and who should our coach be. Enlighten me.

Timmons shouldn't return punts ever. Barker should be qb. And i think stoops should try and hire a special teams coach just for the hell of it you know? If our team was doing anything good. I might say something positive wouldn't I? What positive stuff is there to say about this team? Enlighten me.

So Barker, Charles Walker and a special teams coach makes us good? I think you make those changes, and we still suck. You are just trying to start ****.

The positive is that we outplayed Vandy. We couldn't score and we gave them scores, but we flat out played them the whole game. We controlled the line, and we haven't done that much. Their "top notch" defense was beaten. If Timmons or Juice catch a TD pass on the first drive, we win. Sound familiar?

If towles doesn't check out of a run on the one yard line to throw an int in the back corner. Then we win.

Not having a special teams coach may have cost us 3. That did not lose the game. Receivers dropping passes cost us more, and theat did cost us the game.

Towles did check out of a run on the one yard line to throw an int. that and all the horrible coaching decisions thru out the game. Is what cost us the game. Still tho woopty doo we almost beat vandy. What kind of trophy do we get for almost beating vandy?

Pretty tough job, not a lot to work replying to you it with seems like to me, but I will try.

We have a very young team, only TWO of the 22 in the two deep are seniors on offense, and offense was our problem the last game. The raw talent is still much better than it has been in decades. Flashes of great plays mixed in with huge mistakes. No consistency, partly because they are very young. The biggest problem, the OL, is in line for a huge upgrade in the near future if posters like you don't scare them all off.

The D------not just something positive but oodles of it from the Vandy game, only three scores, one from a fumble inside the five yard line, one from an intercepted pass, and one on a trick play that isn't a part of football IMO, outlawed in high school decades ago and if you read the NCAA rule it is clear that the play should never be allowed from the spirit of the rules. Again some great young talent, 14 of the 22 in the two deep back next year, many of them freshmen, but with enough senior leadership to be much better than the O is presently.

Not a very good game for us at all and many mistakes that any one corrected would have won the game for us, but we were 2.5 point underdogs and lost by four even with a ton of mistakes, and all of them weren't by our players, the coaching staff is still learning also.

But go ahead, you are doing a great job of tearing down our team and insulting our players.

We tried to score from the one four times, what makes you think we would have made it if he doesn't check?

i hava no problems with the players. I just think our staffs in game coaching is the worst in division one football.

Not trying start arguments just wondering what people's thoughts on that are.

Well start with how many big time programs almost got beat this year by smaller programs. It happens every year, and most the time big programs rebound and go on to a pretty good record. But in our case, so many problems all over kept us too inconsistent in every game that we played later.

What if Baker didn't drop those 2 TD passes.....we could be 6-4 right now? "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts it'd be Christmas every day."

We are what we are. We are a struggling team with a mild chance to scrape a bowl game.

Don't think losing to EKU would have changed anything. The fact that we were outplayed and out coached throughout the whole game is still not lost in victory. Stoops could have gone 0-12 this year and kept his job for another year and most likely two.

Really hope stoops finds his coaching legs and starts to make this work as we would be a better program for it. Greater miracles have happened I suppose but as of now he has shown me zero coaching abilities from the sideline. Makes way too much money to not manage this program better.

Just about any high school coaching staff could have taken this years team and produced similar results at worst.

After 3 years of Brooks I was ready for him to pack up and leave town along with half his staff, I was wrong. I'm hoping, that reasoning allows Stoops to be a success if given time. I know that's not popular on here and he has made rookie HC mistakes. But I think he can grow from this and be the coach that we need here.
