Seven kids from IMG in the Rivals 100. I will admit, that place bugs me. It's a sports academy, with kids moving from OOS to attend. I don't see how the these kids are viewed as HS students. If anything, let's acknowledge that "school" is a minor league.

We have programs in various sports in IL that get out of state stud transfers on an almost yearly basis.

But seriously they are not a part of the FLorida High School Association and don't pretend to be anything else than a factory. I don't have much of an issue with it.

Nothing on par with IMG.

Put yourself with prep schools, not HS.

Im guesing those 7 guys in the top 100 have their tuition covered onthe backs of the d3 kids whose parents think that by sending them to IMG will make a difference in their recruiting.

I would guess that this is the business model that most, if not all football, baseball, wrestling etc academies operate. These academies have to enroll high profile athletes on scholarship, not because they want to, after all these are for profit businesses, but in order to attract sufficient paying enrollees to make the business profitable. This does not mean that the paying enrollees won't get better at their chosen sport by attending one of these academies, what it does mean is that attending one of these academies does not guarantee you a D-1 scholarship.

In IMG's case they operate summer camps which I would guess are highly profitable at approximately $1,700.00 per week.So if you can't send your kid to the $60 K plus Academy you can send him to IMG for a week. An alternative to IMG is sending a kid to a D-1 college camp at a reduced cost. For instance Notre Dame runs a 3 day camp with exposure to FCS and D-2 and 3 coaches for $525.00.

Seeing this reminded me of an article I read this morning. I've always thought it to be true and still do. This guy does a really good job in the article. If you have time, read it,

Do you think this business model would work at a school in Illinois?

Just found this in an article about an IMG kid looking at Northwestern.

"

IMG is essentially a boarding school, where Glackin takes classes in
the morning and then trains for football in the afternoons. The program
attracts players from all over the country and plays a national
schedule. Glackin says that the Ascenders will likely be ranked No. 1 in
the country when they open the 2015 season."Our goal is to be the top team in the nation," he said."

So they pretend to be a HS football team.

Also, NW doesn't mind their academic "rigors"??!!??

IMG operates much as a private high school although they have a post grad program. What are more common are post grad programs. Most of the post grad programs are located on the east coast.

There is a post grad program operating in the South West suburbs. I don't believe they have been in operation for much more than a year. They play small colleges and college jv teams. Being that they have not been in business long, they don't have much of a track record but I looked and they have a full roster. They hold their practices at St. Lawrence HS.

I don't know if it will happen, or if it is even on the radar, but I can see one of the more noted local training centers starting a post grad program in that their seems to be a market for it. The only roadblock would be the amount of upfront money needed to start a post grad program.
