In 2016, Kentucky football will feature something it hasn’t in quite some time: an explosive offense

We heard the same type stuff last year.

I believe they could be pretty good though.

Guys its simple, if the oline gives Drew time to throw and the receivers catch the ball, he could have a Woodson type season especially with the running backs we have. If the oline is close to last year and Drew gets worried about getting killed, it could be the same old same old.

I'm leaning towards explosive offense as well. As long as our top guys stay healthy and the oline improves like we all think it has, this offense will be able to run the ball, go play action, hit the TEs over the middle, and even have some dangerous targets down the field.

2 years ago we had a decent offense that scored almost 30 a game. We should have been better last year. Now we have a proven OC, a much more focused group of receivers, and a QB that seems to be starting to put it together.

My hope is that we can play a bit uptempo and move the chains, resulting in methodical drives that eat up the clock. I know the 70 yard TD play on 1st down is exciting but all that does is give your D little time to rest. Offense needs to help out our defense this year.

Cannot wait to see how this team looks.

You mean there is some hope for you? From first reading your post I wasn't sure.

Seeing is believing, stand by.
You are spot on, jauk. Seeing is believing, and I will be standing by.

I'm not one who has thrown in the towel and canceled my season tickets.
In fact, I am able to purchase a season parking pass for the first time this
year thanks to the many wonderful fans who have ended their support of
this team.

I believe Stoops is laying a good foundation for a solid program, but we've all
heard the pre-season hype year after year. Now is the time to back up the promises.
I'm cautiously optimistic, and I'll be cheering as loud as anybody...

They have talent but I heard we would be good last year too and didn't even end up .500 overall. I think they will be competent.

What facts???
We're bigger? Stronger? Faster? Deeper?
Never heard that before.
How 'bout we beat Vanderbilt this year.

Well, it it is coming up from all appearances, from your posts I'm sure you agree we should have beat them last year and we do get them at home with the revenge factor. There shouldn't be any problem getting the team up for this game, I still contend their trick play should have been illegal by the spirit of the rules.

They scored on that play, an interception, and after a fumble recovery inside the five, that is all.

At times early last year we could be very explosive, both with the run and the pass. Shame it all came unraveled. We could be very good this year....

My point is that we strive to be in the upper half of the East.
To do that, we must start by beating the Vandys of the world.
They have beaten us 4 of the last 5, and the all time record is even at 42.

Peace...

I've followed the Cats for 30 years and every fall camp we're gonna be bigger, faster, and tuning the corner.

I remember hearing the same things we're hearing now during the Curry days.

Remember the practice reports about Morgan Newton's improvement?

Sorry to be so jaded and not a Pollyanna but I gotta see it on the field.

This ^^^ Although I think we will be improved some even without more time to throw simply because I think Gran knows how to use the short timing routes, TEs, and dump offs to the backs to slow the rush and get positive yards and move chains.

With that I think we'll be a productive offense, with better line play and time we could be somewhat explosive.

Yes we've heard it clear back to the Bradshaw days,we do have more talent at the RB,WR and TE positions + Gran and Hinshaw are probably the best offensive coaching tandem we have had in several years. After all that is said it comes down to what Barker can or can't get done,he has much to prove coming off last year. I hope that a fresh start and different circumstances benefit him, the way I see it Barker hasn't shown us enough to get too excited yet but that is not to say it won't happen

I think we will know where we stand after the first two games,if we win the first and in the 4th quarter of the 2nd one we are in the game with a chance to win then we could have something going.

I'm very hopeful we'll be a darn good offensive team. We certainly have talent at RB and with our receiver's. Barker's play will of course be critical, but with a good QB coach, and a better OC in sync with Stoops I'm hopeful we'll be able to move the ball consistently. Given what I've read about our D if we're going to win 6 or more it will likely have to be by outscoring the other teams.

But as many of you have said, it remains to be seen and I won't really believe it until I see it.

What you say is true, but when we play Bama and UL, i'll take as many of those first play 70 yard touchdown bombs as many times we can do it. Our defense will need time to rest. Without rest throughout a game, even the elite defense across the country can look average. Our defense is going to need as much help as those guys can get.

Hey, what happened, did you forget about the OL? We have more highly rated players there than ever before, and all but one of the two deep returns, plus the new guys coming in are definitely better than any one class we have ever had. The OL in 07 averaged about a 5.2 as commits and they were quite serviceable..

Come to think of it, Barker was a highly sought after 5.9 also.
