Speaking seriously in a serious-minded interview with that paragon of serious journalism, Trevor Noah of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” President Barack Obama downplayed the allegations of Russian hacking of the 2016 presidential election to sway the results toward Trump.

“We were frankly more concerned in the run up to the election to the possibilities of vote tampering, which we did not see evidence of,” Obama explained. “And we’re confident that we can guard against.”

Though Obama did acknowledge some interference by hackers purportedly directed by Moscow, he also downplayed the effect of the hacks and questioned the media’s focus on them.

“What’s happened to our political system where some emails that were hacked and released ended up being the overwhelming story, and the constant source of coverage — breathless coverage — that was depicted as somehow damning in all sorts of ways when the truth of the matter was it was fairly routine stuff?” Obama remarked.

Obama also stated that the recent news really should come as “no surprise,” as Russia has been trying to influence American elections since the days of the Soviet Union, according to Vulture.

I think the Left dismissed Obama's assurances against Russians helping out Trump around 3AM November 9th after Wisconsin was called for Trump and Hillary's defeat was certain.

That's when they threw Obama under the Bus trying to assure us the Russians could never pull off Trump's upset.

Wonder when the Left stopped believing their hero as he explains himself here and started buying into the media hype about Russian collusion with Trump?

Do they think Obama was clueless when he said this? Or they didn't believe him because he's Black and they're racists?

Obama knew about Russian hacking in June. He wouldn't let Comey pen an op ed alerting the electorate as Comey planned to do. Must have not thought it was a big deal.

I'll say in my opinion, I wouldn't have either. Think about it, she had just been cleared of the email gate by Comey. Then, we release that story, she wins the election, all anyone is going to talk about is that Hillary was in the tank of the Russians from people on the right.

Interesting perspective. Hillary was against fracking, which the Russians hate. Clearly, Putin would want to stop fracking to raise oil prices and to stop potential LNG flows to Europe to replace Russian natural gas. Hillary would have kept our military spending in the shallow end of the pool, Putin would love that too. Hillary would have followed Obama's policies in the Middle East (leading from behind and non-active engagement) leaving the Middle East to Russia, Putin would love that. Hillary would have kept the Iran deal, Putin would love that since Iran is a proxy for Russia. And Billy got a lot of money from Russia for speeches while Hillary was Sec State.

And then there was all of that Uranium she arranged to sell them at bargain basement prices?

The media in its zeal to get Trump is missing the real Russian connections here.

Maybe this is what Flynn is so anxious talk about?

I also think the Russians have some other choice pieces of information about Hillary and the Dems that they hacked off of her private server that had all sorts of classified information she was pretty actively trying to conceal by bleaching her hard drive.
