Patrick Towles leads the Maroon squad to two FGs and a 6-2 win over the White squad in BC's spring game.

FWIW, I saw other posts that said the teams were "drafted" and not an #1 offense vs #1 defense thing.

Peace

The Tennessee spring game had a final of 70-63. Damn.

Like someone else said, Tennessee has a weird format. They give points for everything it seems. Defense gets so much for not giving up a first down and stuff like that. They also did a lot of their scrimmage without tackling. Not sure how much but the last 4-5 minutes of their second half had none. Kind of weird.

That's due to some convoluted scoring system used by Jones, so many points awarded the D for whatever...same for the O. Also points awarded for having no rapes reported last week.

The Running Back Who Shall Remain Nameless at Bama had over 100 rushing in their game.

Ours was a success, Kirby had pushed for 93k and it was packed early, probably 20k left before half but fans showed up. Some left to beat traffic out, others left to watch BB game. Offense looked good, Eason has a Matt Stafford type arm, didn't start for either team, but lead passing stats, but the returnees looked much better than last year. Sony didn't get many touches running the ball, Chubb didn't play of course so a RSF and a converted RB led the ground game, neither are expected to get many touches next fall. Entire offense looked much better than last year, even with the top the top 3 RBs not doing much of anything, couple WR stepped up. I am excited about it. Will be hard to keep Eason off the field, will be some mistakes, but major arm talent and hopefully with Chubb back and Sony there won't be tons of pressure to win the game on him.

Grumpy-What are you hearing on Demetris Robertson? UGA bound? Also saw that William Poole committed today. He's a heck of a player. Kirby is doing a great job and your 2017 class is going to be epic. Time will tell if he will be as good of a coach as Richt, but I think Kirby will recruit better and lock down the state.

The no rapes reported last week is big news, that should have accounted for half the points by itself.

No, wait, I forgot, it is TU, that had nothing to do with how many actually happened, just how many were reported, so it was business as usual.

I did watch a few minutes of their scrimmage after UK went off, and thought it was really odd that the D SCORED three points for a missed FGA by the O------talk about rewarding incompetence. And the D wasn't allowed to rush on the attempt, but maybe that made the kicker more nervous.

I am surprised to read that about TRBWSRNAB (he will never get any endorsements, his name is too long), I can't decide if their OL is still way ahead of ours (temporarily) or their D is going to suck this year.

I was there, and as usual, there was A LOT of people that just stayed out in the parking lot. I guess they felt drinking was the better idea than actually attending the event that afforded said drinking.

Whatever, I'm over attendance.

Our OL will be better than last year. We return 3 starters and today we were missing our LT, who will be a top 10 pick, and we have a 5-star JUCO OT coming in who members of our staff believe will be "one and done." Our D will be very good. DL won't have that much of a drop off from last year's. Well, the starters, that is. Still need to develop depth. Allen is one of the top DE's in the country, Tomlinson and Payne would've started for almost every team in the SEC last year, and Hand (former #1 recruit in the country) has been arguably our best defensive player this spring not named Tim Williams. LB is stacked despite losing 3 starters, and we will have 2 5-star freshman on our 3rd string. Secondary will be better than last year.

As for RB, I've told you multiple times that DH will have a productive season. We're razor thin at RB and Emmons is overrated. By no means is he a bum, but the fact that he was ranked as the #1 RB was a joke. Ronnie Clark is a Safety who was converted to RB because of our lack of depth, and Jacobs won't contribute this year. Also, you have mentioned the fact that we had 3 RB's committed in 2017. I told you that Akers and Najee Harris wouldn't sign when all is said and done. Since then, Akers has decommitted and there is buzz that NH will flip.

Dang man, that Drob recruitment is something else isn't it? By you asking I have to assume its not the same thing we are hearing. We have heard he has eliminated Bama, ND and isn't taking a trip to Stanford, leaving us, GT and Cal. Now I don't think mama wants him in California so realistically us and GT. Mom isn't about football at all so Tech would be her choice because of the engineering. I think of the 2 Drob wants UGA and most feel pretty good about him. Ridley's little brother had a good spring game with us today but he isn't the big play guy like his older brother, but still a pretty good target.

Everyone is excited about Kirby and the excitement he has put into the program, we had standing room only in first half today, some said near 100k, which is about twice our previous high. He and the rest of the staff are hitting the recruiting trail much harder than Richt and his staff. I don't think he or anyone can lock down the state, just too many D1 kids, too many schools right on our borders and too many kids that grew up in households of alumni/fans of other programs. Thats mostly because so many people move into the metro area of Atlanta.

Caught some of Tennessee's while I was eating at BWW after our spring game and it was the dumbest thing I have EVER seen for a spring football game. I couldn't follow the weird scoring system they had in place. Some of the dumbest stuff ever, lets take a break and hand out team captain awards, lets take a break and try to throw passes to a cardboard cut out.

Too close to a Jewish holiday a few months ago. Plus with the stadium expansion they lost the Johnny U statue to count in their attendance stats - that is really going to hurt them.

Alabama's Spring game ended 7-3. The papers down here say they have the D to win a National championship. Maybe so, but they need to score a few points.

Its not weird when you have 20 players out and a promising season ahead. If you have nothing to lose then play a full scrimmage and hit the entire time. Take the green jersey off the QB too, go all out.

I didn't think he was attacking it, just saying it was different and a little hard to understand from the outside. I think even you would have to agree it was a different kind of spring game than the norm.

I think the attendance was around 67-68k from what I heard.
Watched a little of it and it certainly looked like a great crowd along with all the games I've seen except for UK's..pretty sad and all we here from fans are excuses of why they can't come, but yet all other sec fans make a showing

Tennessee had a whole lot of stuff to compete with as well. Bristol was this weekend and Pigeon Forge had their rod run. Also the local air base hosted the Smoky Mountain air show for the first time in 15 years and the event drew around 200k people in two days. So people in East Tennessee had a lot of things to do. Furthers the argument that Kentucky fans have no excuse.

That makes a difference. Our's until this weekend has always been on the Master's weekend. Moving it back a week was the first think Kirby did and then asking for a sellout. Place was packed, people were standing, not all stayed, alot left at the half. But the excitement of a new staff and seeing Eason for the first time had a great deal to do with filling the place up.

Noon is a little hard to get to from Louisville. We had 6 or 8 going but it was 3 after the noon announcement. Baseball practice and work load made us give up on it last week.

It is amazing that only 20 saint ut players have been charged with felonies and the DA has not got around to dismissing the charges yet. I know it is close to election time, I guess the DA doesn't have to run and doesn't need the votes but he sure is slacking on his job!! Only a saint ut football player can sell a $640 Xbox game system for only $176 for a friend and not realize it was stolen? Since he was a saint ut football player, I can understand why he would not realize it was stolen. It must have been a rush to judgement by the police(did they not realize he was a saint ut football player)?

28,144 reported for UK spring game
:football:Were you actually there? That is triple of what the actual attendance was...sad , but knew what the time that team fair weather and bb only fans would not show. Some use every excuse in the book , but as you can see that is lame with the numbers above from fans of other teams in the conference.
