I live in Lansing right on the Indiana border so I keep an eye on teams there (Lowell is the nw Ind. powerhouse this year and will probably take state). I know we all have issues with the IHSA off and on but thank the lord we are not in Indiana. Heres how they run their playoffs. First every school makes the playoffs even the 0-9 teams.
Fine if your in a position to do so but here is where it starts to go south. The six classes are divided into 8 sections each. 6a (largest schools) section 1 is nw indiana, section 8 is se indiana. 5a section 9 is nw indiana and so on. so teams always play to get out of the section which means there are alot of replays from the regular season. now here is the mind boggler, they throw the names in a hat to draw the sectional match ups, So it happened again this year, two 9-0 teams (obviously, though from the same section hadn't played each other reg. season) met game one while a 2-7 faced a 0-9 team. I get it only one of those 9-0 teams is coming out of the section but geez game 1, give me a break. One year they had a 7 team section with 2 unbeatens and 1 0-9 team the draw came out and you guessed right game 1, 9-0 vs 9-0, 0-9 a bye. So see it could be alot worse. Also this always makes sure a team from the south plays a team from the north every year for the championship.

remember that one year where Benet was 1-8 with a win over that IN team, and that IN team went to the championship game and put up a little fight vs Cathedral?

So. Bend Adams hosted Reavis this year and lost in OT. They are the favorites to advance out of their section.
