Gonna get clobbered for this....

The Beatles

I would not say "overated" but would agree a lot of their material sounds dated, unless you think Yellow Submarine or Lovely Rita are classics.

But at the same time, their early stuff, e.g., Twist and Shout plus their biggest hits like Let it Be, Revolution, Long and Winding Road, have aged awfully well.

Twist and Shout belonged to Cincinnati Isley Bros

Kurt Cobain.

He could BARELY play. If he hadn't offed himself he'd be related to the dustbin of history.
Totally disagree.
He had a huge impact on the music industry and pop culture as a whole.
Would he regarded as a rock icon today if he were alive.
He really left behind a small amount of material.

He was talking to Michael Stipe about a new project when he killed himself. Really wish we could have heard what they were working on. Obviously we will never know what he would have put out after In Utero, but I would like to think he'd have just quit instead of putting out garbage.

The Beatles are like a Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton movie. By modern standards it sucks but still one of the iconic and important bands in history.

The Rolling Stones won the long game. Every single thing they did pre-80s is banging other than that crap where they tried to be psychadelic in the 60s for an album.

But seriously. F*** Radiohead.

The worst band ever. Even being in the Scott Tenorman Must Die episode of South Park can't salvage how much Thom ([sick]) Yorke should pleasure himself with a nailbat.

You are correct but that's what makes him overrated.

Couldn't really play... and his suicide made him way more popular than he wou!d have been had he just faded away.

OT, but hey P19978, it seems like I remember you're a guitarist/musician and if you happen to live within decent driving distance of Nashville you ought to check out Monte Montgomery this Friday night at 3rd and Lindsley. Dude is a monster guitarist/performer.
Thanks but I'm way up here in NKy... always interested in hearing about great guitarists.

Nashville is INSANE if you like great guitar playing!

Put me on the jury.

American Hero

The victim said it all started when he was listening to the band the Eagles. According to the victim, Bader told him she did not want to listen to the Eagles, and an argument started. Authorities say when the victim told Bader to "shut up," Bader went into the kitchen and grabbed a 14-inch bread knife and started to swing it at the victim.

Madonna. The top selling female of all time. However she isn't a very good singer and didn't even write her hit songs. She was good at shaking her *** and being controversial. Now she is just pathetic.

Totally agree.

A lot of musicians in this thread that I really like and many that I don't. Thankfully nobody included The Allman Brothers or I'd have to go ballistic. Now that I said that 3,2,1....

I love the Allman Brothers.

Love to play their music when I get home on Friday Nights and crank their music while drinking Woodford.

Cool stuff.

Showing my age.

America. (Horse with No Name, Sister Golden Hair, WTF)
Kenny Loggins (after Messina) Christopher Robin my ***
The Dead (do not get them) Lump Radiohead in with them.

Last but not least. U2. I'll admit they have talent but their songs are like nails on a chalkboard to me.
