So 5 bowl games beat number 10 rated cfp games. Interesting. That includes pin stripe bowl.

It was a really great second half. Indiana was hanging on and on the ropes. Beck didnt have to force it down field, there was time to get yardage in medium chunks and Indiana was gassed. Glad Indiana won, Miami also greatly impressed. Amazing second half. Indiana national champs, just wow.

This comes after ESPN had massive non-cfp bowl season ratings. College football is doing just fine.

Exactly. College Football continues to be a mega sport that is very popular in the U.S.

The money being generated is insane.

Indiana is a fascinating story and it was a good game. I think their success is the best thing that has happened to college football in a very long time as it gives every power football school hope. It’s the worst thing that has happened to the coaching world because now everybody’s going to expect Cignetti performance at their respective schools.

I know this is an unpopular take in these parts, but I believe the portal is increasing the interest in the sport. Similar to Cignetti and his success, the portal gives hope to the fanbase that the program can find the right portal pieces to solidify the roster for a natty run.

Between the playoffs and the portal, I agree. There are teams out there who will time everything right and go on great runs. Maybe not Indiana level run, but the "never haves" now have a chance.

ACC Lawyer Announces Bad News for Darian Mensah After Duke Issues Official Statement

Miami offered $10 million to Mensah 👀 and he started the transfer process.

But there’s an ironic twist in Duke’s lawsuit that might actually work against the university’s request to stop Mensah from transferring.

"The transfer portal and NIL came in as a boon for players, but for Darian Mensah, it’s turning into a legal problem. After a remarkable 9-5 season, the Duke Blue Devils lost their QB to the portal. But what seemed like a normal portal move became an ongoing lawsuit between the player and the program.

Duke University filed a 44-page lawsuit against former quarterback Darian Mensah after he entered the transfer portal despite signing a two-year, $8 million contract. The university states that Mensah was “shopping around” and talking to other schools, which was clearly prohibited in his contract. They also claim that he had leaked the private financial details of the deal.

The university is trying its best to block his chance of transferring to another school. They tried to get a restraining order against the quarterback, but the judge denied the plea. Regardless, Mensah is restricted from playing for the other team until their February 2nd, 2026, hearing."

I read that some guy sold his food truck for $30K and bet it all on Miami to win $150,000 - ouch.

I read the article on ON3. The game was one of the highest rated CFB championship games. Other games that got higher ratings were the OSU vs Oregon championship game after the 2014 season, the Alabama vs Texas game after the '09 season and the Texas vs USC game after the '05 season.

I don't understand how the OSU vs Oregon game got such high ratings. The other two I can see.

As for this game you are clearly seeing the interest in Indiana and their story drawing in the more casual fan. It is great for cfb to have new blood make a championship run.

Not next year. 12 team playoff for 2026 season has been confirmed, going by the ESPN scroll. I expected something different.

So much for Finebaum's comment that this game lacked significance.

Hmm. Finebaum didn’t complain when Bama was rolling and dominant during the Saban era.

Now that Bama got their brains bashed in by Indiana, he’s feeling down about the college football game.

Very hypocritical but predictable.

Losing programs and their fans complain, while winning programs and their fans rejoice.

Summary: Athletes like cash money.

😞

It’s not just athletes. Human beings like money. That includes coaches with those ridiculous $20-$50 million buyouts. Also, it includes those greedy universities pocketing billions and looking the other way when it comes to academics.

The next thing to go is portal windows. Once a player challenges the legality of only being allowed to transfer during these window, they'll be gone because that makes no legal sense whatsoever.
