I'm sure they're just rolling it on in limited release, probably on whatever qualifying number of screens, times played per day, etc. to qualify for the Oscars. That's not uncommon and from what I'm reading, they are also trying to get it to show huge on a $ per screen basis, probably hoping even more theaters will show the film when it opens wide. It's only playing on 5 screens this weekend, 2 in NYC and 3 in LA.
