Threeputt, did you fall off the bar stool again, because you missed this one!

First, Virginia Tech was never in the discussion with Pope. They had no need for him at lb and in turn he had no desire to go there. His final list included Ohio State, Georgia, and Florida.

Second, Beck was offered, because he is talented and VA Tech still has the need for a running back for this class. Community pressure was another reason he was likely offered. Don't get me wrong this is a good thing. If Beck turns out to be as good as most expect the coaching staff would have looked like idiots for letting one go in their own backyard. Besides its just an offer, the kid has to accept it. I don't know if Beck will choose VA Tech or not, but they obviously know he desires to run track and play football. Both programs are competative, so we shall see.

Third and finally would you make the same comment if a Spartan was talented in two sports? I hope you are being genuine regarding your concern for injury and his future. Why have you not expressed something similar for the Salem lineman who has injured his ankle/foot the past two seasons? Injuries are part of athletics and there are no guarantees. I respect the Lundy's, Becks, and every other athlete who go on the field of play, ignore the risk, and aspire to be the best they can be. Its called passion!

Good luck to every team, player, and coaching staffs. May you all work hard, stay safe and compete to the best of your ability.
