INSIDERS CONFIDENCE

Out of all the people close to the organization of WVU Athletics, thats not an employee, who do you think would be one of the first to know our position & future when it comes to WVU's future conference?

I would think current highly valued/targeted recruits would know. Well, I think they do... IN the recent podcast with Tony C, they interviewed Nicco Marchiol. Near the end of the interview, Nicco briefly spoke on "The future conference we will be playing". Honestly, I think it was an accidental statement. Tony C did not follow up on it either. Honestly, IM surprised it wasnt edited out.

Nicco didnt say where, but he does know, and it would seem with confidence. I wouldnt ask him, or any other recruit tho. Dont put them in that position. Let those making the decision publicly announce it when they are ready. Lets put the betterment of WVU ahead of our desire to know, and let that lay where it is.

Im posting this, because it would seem, WVU insiders already know where we are going, and its not a future variant of the BIG12. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the last few years playing our BIG12 opponents. Hopefully Brown can get a win vs OU or Texas this year, that would be marvelous!

I would say influential boosters would probably know the most. I doubt Nicco knows anything. Recruits get lied to all the time. Its the nature of the game.

It all started with a lie.
The reason Tavon Austin chose to attend West Virginia in the first place was because the coaches said he could play the position he played in high school -- tailback. But then Austin showed up for his first camp in Morgantown four years ago and ... was listed as a slot receiver.
"Some people told me what I wanted to hear," the current Rams rookie said with a smile after a recent practice in St. Louis.

Austin went to West Virginia because he was a Steve Slaton fan, apparently.
Tavon watched WVU football.

Lonnie Galloway recruiter.

I heard it through the Grapevine.

Sure, those are logical thoughts, but the transfer portal wasnt around then. If a recruit is lied to now, they can just leave at any point and be immediately eligible. Yes, I would imagine boosters know too, but Im confident in why WVU held a "Players Meetup", probably discussing our future/conference/etc.

Well according to Austin he was told by the coach's he was going to a RB and not a WR

It still doesn't matter all that much. Coach's tell them what they want to hear. The kid doesn't know anything. Its not like Brown and company is going to tell them he may end up finishing his college career in the AAC even though its a possibility. They are going to put the most positive spin on it even if its not what ends up happening.

Played RB, one game...vs Oklahoma..

Set single game record for yards.

Tavon should have played RB more, but was to small
He was pretty much the same size as Slaton, bigger than devine, coburne and some of the other RB's we have had. Read the article and how it pertains to the op's original argument. The fact is recruiters tell recruits what they want to hear.

Tavon was to small to play RB every game and def to small to play RB in the NFL. I bet hes thankful he relied on the coaches to put him in the best position possible to be successful and make it to the league. While he could have played a few downs per game, It wasnt his natural fit. Coburne & Divine didnt play in the league and Slaton only did for a few years. Austin's natural fit is slot & kick returner.

Have some coaches lied to recruits, absolutely, esp when it comes to playing time & positions historically yes. However, I think those days of "Lets just get them on campus" days are over. If a recruit is unhappy and feels betrayed, they can leave now. Its a different world then it was back then

I dont think the current staff would tell them certainties, more like probabilities and justifications for positive outcome. They are far more likely to know more then we do. Im confident that is why NB had the "Player Meetup" to discuss everything with the commits & targets. To think it wasnt discussed by the staff with all the commits or to think the staff automatically lied to them is a bit much though.

According to Tony Caridi, on the Friday, July 30th Metro News Sportsline, QB recruit Nicco Marchiol HAS NO inside info on WVU's future conference affiliation. Whatever was said about "another conference" during the interview with Nicco was never intended to suggest or insinuate that he was privy to information not currently known by anyone within immediate proximity of the WVU Athlete Dept.

The kid has no inside info. Recruits decide to attend a certain school for a variety of reasons. If wvu has already figured out plan b you know about it. 17-18 year old kids are the last people you would trust in keeping a secret.

The whole world knew it was announced plus Texas and Oklahoma are blue bloods not the same as wvu. The recruits we have don't know anymore than we do but the coach's tell them everything will be fine. Its not like there gonna hit the panic button

Same size as Slaton? Austin was 165 out of HS. Slaton close to 190

You have to understand that TrollVanZandt/D!ckhead/WhoreSleeze/30+ other handles is a staunch defender of the little man. He probably stands 5'4" on his tiptoes, and he's convinced himself that college linebackers should weigh 190 pounds.
