“I think the other teams are really good. I don’t know what else to say,” head coach Paul Mainieri told GamecockCentral. “The other teams are really good, and they’ve outplayed us in these games.”

Ugh! 🤦

I feel he was brought in to "reestablish" a foundation of fundamental baseball. Get things back on track prior to the 2 individuals that ran the program down. I'm a person with little patience, however I'm trying to get through this as a long time fan of Gamecock baseball. We don't have players like Coach M had a LSU but I do remember years when LSU didn't start well in conference but finished well. I'm hoping we resemble that model in some way this year.

He was brought in to turn it around just enough to give Monte Lee the job. Ray Charles could see that if he were still here.

It’s been 13 years since we’ve been relevant in baseball; that’s a ******* long time.

I don't see Monte getting the job, and hopefully he won't. I mean he was fired from Clemson for a reason.

The reality that we need to accept is that it has been a decade since this program was recruiting regular, annual top 5 classes. We have not recruited well, also likely a product of the performance and several coaching changes in the past 10 years.

The key to this program isn't this year, it's momentum and recruiting at this point.

At least he doesn't say, "we have to get better," probably knowing full well that we won't. 😄

Yeah, it kind of feels more recent than that, but our baseball success is so ancient as to be irrelevant at this point. Any previous success we had amounts to zilch by now. We've got absolutely no cachet any longer.
This is unfortunately true. Especially with the parity in the sport.

Exactly. We are starting from scratch, and the only remaining embers are shrouded in glass memorials, placards and flags.
I still don't understand how RT allowed it to happen under his watch.
