If only there were some way for the kids of Chicago and Peoria to be able to attend a school of their choice that best suited their needs.

Ah, that's crazy talk, right?

Well just keep those schools for people like the Obamas and Emanuels.

ignazio,

Yep, you got that right.

This whole thing is a scam. WHen a public school spends itself into debt they turn and beg for more money. When the community says no, they immediately go to the media and say budget cuts are coming and sports will be the first to get the axe. Then the kids complain because chess club, bassfishing, badminton, the spring musical and math club will be cut. The parents go nuts and they organize for a referendum.

Now Peoria is saying major sports will be cut. This is total desperation.

All I know is everyone stands around...points fingers and nothing gets done and Rome continues to crumble and this state is a laughingstock.

When you run out of other people's money, maybe the best advice is:

Don't just do something, stand there.

Bingo.

If anyone's takeaway from all this is to point fingers at either side, then they are part of the problem with this sham of a state government

If the state would consolidate the 853 school districts they could save a cool 100 million in administrative salaries, and an equal amount in all the duplicate ciriculum administrators. It will never happen and reason 1 of hundreds I'm not long for this state
