He's already proven to be a rebounder and rim protector. There's no "hoping". He's already proven it.
Nope. Nothing is proven. Playing in Coastal Athletic Association is not the same as playing in SEC. Playing for Drexel is not the same as playing for Kentucky. So ,yes , I HOPE that the skills that are required from a center translate for us as well. Far more important than him playing like a PG.

There’s an argument that he hasn’t done it at the power 5 level. But it’s sort of a bad argument. Bigs almost always translate well when going from low or mid major to power 5. He’s still going to be the biggest and strongest guy on the court most nights. And he’s not exactly a stiff either. He’s very fluid for his size. He’s going to be great.

Sure against inferior competition. Our last transfer Center Oscar played in Big 12. Sure you can say that Nate Sestina didn’t play for Power 5 , coming from Bucknell. My hope is Amari will play well be the anchor we need and help us on the big games against Duke, Arkansas, Alabama, Auburn, Etc.

You joined April 8 and make it clear in every thread where people are excited that they shouldn’t be. What was your old handle and why are you so miserable?

I was very surprised to see that Drexel's gym only held 2,500 ... but I assume Williams can step up to major college ball ... hopefully, like Johni Broome certainly did.

Shouldn’t you hope he helps us in all the games?

I think we have 2 really good big guys. Garrison will be an NBA first rounder next summer, I predict.
I sure hope so. It I think he will take another year. It would be great if he does though because he will have a great year.

I am excited to see Robinson, Brea, and Butler team with Carr and Williams. Has UK ever started five seniors especially when all of them averaged double figure scoring in the prior season!!!! Seems to be the formula for final four teams in the past several years. As they say "Why not UK in 2025?"

And let's not forget the other players that can make a difference on any given night!

None of my non-UK fan friends want to talk UK anymore. They mad that we are excited.

5 seniors and one of them has been to a FF. Been a looooong time since we fielded a team with that kind of experience.

Sure, Williams doesn't have a ton of experience against P4/5 level teams, but there is some...here are his stats against those level teams

2023-2024
- WVU .......................... 26 mins, 2pts, 15 rebs, 1 Blk, 1 ast, 1 foul
- #18 Villanova .......... 23 mins, 12 pts, 6 reb, 5 Blk, 2 ast, 2 fouls

2022-2023 - No P5 teams
2021-2022
- Syracuse 8 pts, 6 rebs, 0 Blk, 2 asts, 0 fouls

So, in his most recent season, I'd say he held his own just fine in the opportunities he had. What's really impressive to me is:
1. He got those numbers without playing 30 mins in either game.
2. He is a great defensive presence without being foul prone.

The dude's not a UK fan and is clearly seething at the thought of us being refreshed and is trying to stomp it out. Not worth your time.

yeah, that seems to be the case.

The question did raise my curiosity, so when I looked up his results, it was encouraging in showing that he was quite solid against better competition. I thought fans here would like to see that, so I just posted it...less about that individual poster and more for everyone else.

Sestina has made a living playing hoops. He was fine.
