Initial thoughts:

1) It's crazy not to see Syracuse, Duke, NC, or Johns Hopkins in the field
2) Five seeded Ivy League teams, and six Ivy League teams total
3) Georgetown pulled a #2 seed from the Big East conference, the only bid from the Big East

Eight Seeded Teams:

  1. Maryland (Big Ten)
  2. Georgetown (Big East)
  3. Penn (Ivy League)
  4. Yale
  5. Princeton
  6. Rutgers
  7. Cornell
  8. Brown
Unseeded Teams:

  • Vermont (America East)
  • Robert Morris (ASUN)
  • Delaware (CAA)
  • Manhattan (MAAC)
  • Boston U. (Patriot League)
  • Saint Joseph’s (NEC)
  • Richmond (SoCon)
  • Virginia
  • Harvard
  • Ohio State

6 Ivy schools, a top notch non Ivy.

And then, we have the Turtles.
Oy vey.

Interesting ... why so many Ivies in the NCAA LAX tournament? Where are the Alabamas, Clemsons, Texas, etc? I think LAX is a fun sport ... lots of running yes, but there is the ability to hit and knock down people too (especially in the men's game).

Seems that in the distant past, quite a few football players played LAX in the spring. I can think of Jim Brown, Dan Pastorini, John Mackey ...

I read somewhere that Jim Brown made a habit of trapping the ball on his chest with his stick and just running through people. The rules were changed to forbid this, as I understand.

I’m guessing partial scholarships for the non-Ivy schools make the ivies attractive. Could be wrong though. My kid played baseball and got an ivy league education for less than PSU tuition at the time.
