Totally unimpressed with the coaching job by Capel today. When Matt Jones and Frank Jackson play similar minutes as a current first team all-american there is a problem. I find it amusing that the first game K is out and Kennard has his worst game of the year. Got news for you...if that continues this Duke team is going absolutely nowhere. What did Kennard have today 5 shots? Hmmm wonder why we were in a tight game late at home against one of the worst teams in the ACC? Ridiculous.

Kennard was in la la land today defensively.... pathetic effort by him on the defensive end. I have no issues with kennard being benched some today, could help in the long run
I for one liked the minute distribution.It got us a 25 point lead which would have been maintained if we did not miss a ton of wide open shots.Our problems today shows just why AMILE is so important with his leadership
It will change from game to game. Frank had a good game. When shots are not falling it affects everything.
Amusing. So his defense was terrible so sit him the last 8 minutes of the first half. Meanwhile Matt Jones who is shooting maybe 33% and has arguably the ugliest shot in all of college basketball continues to take minutes from Kennard and Jackson who are both going to the league. Makes sense. I have never understood the love affair with Jones....guy is totally dependent other players to get him shots and is not the lock down defender everyone makes him out to be. Just watch, this is an absolute sampling of what is to come for Kennard. His minutes will drop as will his production and when that happens Duke will struggle. Capel needs to wake up.
And Jones who plays 20-25 minutes per game better shoot higher than 33% from the field.
Ha... I guess you haven't seen many of my posts. I'm not a fan of matt the player. I think he should be playing 15-20 min max.
I'll start a duke conspiracy theory. Capel had major influence on this years starting lineup, or he pretty much decided it. Kennard was not going to start this year until Tatum got hurt. Very peculiar. I don't know how it's possible for someone to think matt should start over Luke, but the coaches did. If we continue to see matt play more than Luke I will have a big issue. Today, Luke was not helping the team.
Wont happen unless he gets 35+ minutes a game and with Capel, trust me that's not happening. Go ahead and turn a blind eye to it but there is a reason that Luke played his fewest minutes of the season today and only took 6 shots. Get used to it.
If he doesn't start or plays small minutes next week I'll believe you. Today he didn't deserve 5 minutes with his defensive effort.

Just checked the box....36 minutes for Jones. Comedy gold. Look, I'm not upset...like I said before knew it was coming with Capel and you watch, Kennard will continue to play around 30 minutes per game. Meanwhile Jones and his lock down D and sub 40% shooting will play 35+.

Hey baller....ever think Kennard might have been sick or ill today as to why he only took 6 shots or that matt played more. That's not the real issue anyway Duke's inability to play consistent defense is the real issue
Don't hold me to this... it could have been someone's thought based on his play, but I read that Luke was playing with flu like symptoms today
I read that too why I brought it up but again our lack of team defense is the real concern great we score 110 but if they score 111 doesn't matter. Love Duke to death but with a roster like this the defense is seriously underachieving

Frankly, I'm not overly concerned. We won a conference game without our top offensive threat, and our performance changed after our floor general left the game.
If ill, Luke will recover and score more. The hope is Amile is fine, and even if he's not, the team will adjust. When he was a big part of the play and is then removed, it can be difficult to adust in game.

Dang Luke has a bad day and it's a conspiracy. Give the kid a break I feel fairly certain that he will have another bad game or two this year. It's basketball and it happens.
I'm not sure why I continued reading this post after the first post....wish I had the last few minutes of my life back. Some of these people need to get over themselves and stop coaching from the couch.

So you don't find it even remotely odd that your leading scorer, who has averaged close to 36 min a game under K plays 28 the first game with the new coach and a guy who can't shoot gets 36? Next game is going to be really interesting. If Kennard plays 28 minutes against a top tier team on the road and takes 6 shots Duke is taking a massive L. Sorry to be critical, did not realize we are just supposed to watch the games and agree with everything that happens.

Hard to make a case for Luke to get more minutes today, he was just checked out like I've never seen from him today. I assume Javin and Jeter are still inactive so thats why we didn't play them.
I will say this, I do think we should've got a minute or two of Vrank with Giles and a minute or two of Jack. Our perimeter guys were gassed since we played the entire 2nd half in a small lineup. We can't expect to win too many ACC games playing small for 40 minutes and Matt getting 35+ minutes even with Amile out. We need to hope Javin or Jeter come back quick, or get creative with Vrank and Jack. 4 minutes between the two of them in a half could really help keep some of our guys a little more fresh.

Baller your post count has nothing to do with your basketball knowledge. It's your rather negative comments about Duke that define that. Do you really think Capel will reduce the minutes and thus the scoring of Luke Kennard, our leading offensive player this year? We shot horribly and played pitiful defense in the 2nd half which allowed BC back into the game. Our defense couldn't guard a shoe box today which unfortunately is sometimes the norm. We will get better instead of worse when we have healthy players, if we ever do.
Other guys were scoring....Kennard didn't look like his normal self in running all over the place...seemed a bit lethargic....also didn't he have 2 or 3 fouls towards the end of the first half....other guys stepped up
