I definitely hope it proves to be a stupid thread. Just have a feeling that under Capel, this very easily could turn in to a tale of two seasons in a season for Kennard. Capel seems to be a much more defensive minded coach than K....how else do you explain 36 minutes for Jones when there were no injuries in the rotation of guards/small forwards? 36 minutes for Jones in any game is a complete and utter travesty.I take that back...OHballer knows something about the Lindbergh baby.
Btw, Luke wasn't feeling well today.
Stupid, stupid thread. Really stupid.
It gets my voteThis is a candidate for DI dumbest thread of the year.

I think he is saying Kennard got fewer shots/minutes yesterday because he is white. That is his elephant in the room. HahaThis thread is ridiculous. Would love to know the reasoning you have to believe any of this.

Thanks.Jefferson got hurt midway late the first half. Good chance he's out a significant amount of time, or worse.
Bolden was terrible.
Both Jeter and DeLaurier are hurt.
I know you started the "Will Roy pull a K" thread, which is now f'in gold considering Roy chose to cancel as the home team in significantly less inclement weather. That is absolutely beautiful stuff.I didn't see the game but looking at the box score I have questions maybe someone can answer.
Giles 24
Amile 13
Bolden 7
Those are the minutes of the legit front line players.
I see that Bolden picked up 4 quick fouls. So his low minutes are understandable. But where are the minutes for Jeter, DeLaurier, Vrank or anyone else with some size? And why didn't Jefferson play more?
Were they all injured or had the flu?
I mean maybe those other guys aren't as ready or as good as Giles, Jefferson and Bolden. But when GJB are only playing a combined 44 minutes - just 55% of front line minutes - why not play those guys?
Sorry, if I followed Duke more closely I would probably know the answers, but I'm curious about what looks like an unnecessary shortening of the bench (and the team).
I agree. Funny stuff.I know you started the "Will Roy pull a K" thread, which is now f'in gold considering Roy chose to cancel as the home team in significantly less inclement weather. That is absolutely beautiful stuff.
No, I am just surprised when a team looks like it has resources it doesn't use. Dukiejay explained the situation for me, rather than turning it into a pissing match.you are suggesting K (or in this case Capel) "pull a Roy" so that speak, and play guys who haven't necessarily earned the minutes, or at the very least are a significant drop off from the guy in front of them. In a lot of the cases, as DJ said, it is injury related. But outside of that, the other guys haven't shown to be big difference makers. Their days are coming, they just aren't right now.
Thanks.
That's awful. Especially for Jefferson. I've always liked him.
What's the prognosis on Jeter and DeLaurier? And why don't Vrank or Obi get some burn, at least for a few minutes each half?
What's the deal with Bolden? I saw he had a couple of good games once he got into the lineup, but then not so much.

I don't think at all it's race related. That would be cause for the most ridiculous thread of the year. I think it is that Capel is a defensive minded coach, much more so than K, and Kennard while not a terrible defender as some suggest, is not gifted in that area. I just find it interesting that Kennard played 28 minutes today after playing 35+ every single game with K. Coincidence? Guess we will find out against FSU. I will never back down from my claim though that Matt Jones getting significant minutes, as in 36, will make it very difficult for Duke to make a deep run in March. Just my opinion, but I would roll out Jackson, Allen, Kennard, Tatum, and Giles and let each of those guys get 32 minutes a game minimum. Have fun stopping that. Jones can be the 4th guard off the bench and play 15-20 minutes per game, and Bolden/Jeter can spell the big men. This assuming of course that Jefferson is done which seems to be the rumor that is out there this morning.
I'm not from this board but have generally been treated respectfully, perhaps because I am not a troll who attacks others, but someone who has an actual interest in Duke bball. If you considered that response aggressive, you have very thin skin. But I can understand the defensiveness to an extent - had I of created that thread, and things shook out the way they did, I would be embarrassed as well.
But the resources note you make is an important one. It gets at what my opinion is - how much does the increased insertion of those guys (and the people they take minutes away from) help you?

I'll leave it to your fellows to straighten you out if they think you need it. But your behavior has been way below the civility I expect to encounter here.
Your first post: makes you look is funnyYou seem to be a very delicate flower. Not to belabor anything, but just out of curiosity, what specifically struck you as particularly abrasive? Pointing out the thread you created (because, for the record, you did create it)? Because, overall, it all seems pretty innocuous to me.

Now I will readily agree that these are relatively minor insults. But here are the things: first, they were unprovoked, second, you don't seem to be able to make a post without including something snide.
As I said, it's not the level of civility I usually encounter here.
And what level of civility do you think any us encounter over on your board?.........everYour first post: makes you look is funny

Please point to my "frequently uninformed, anti-Duke posts on THR." Other than the kidding one about the snow storm, you are going to have a very hard time finding any - for the simple reason that I don't actually dislike Duke. Rivalry, sure, but not hatred.I see what you are saying, but bear in mind that your frequently uninformed, anti-Duke posts on THR are visible to anyone with an internet connection.
I can only speak for myself. I'm there (and here) to discuss basketball, not to give people a hard time. And what level of civility do you think any us encounter over on your board?.........ever

I other words, what I said is basically correct and, if you are honest, shows more appreciation for Duke bb than you should probably expect on a Carolina board. It wasn't hard to find one. Here's the most recent one I recall. You posted: "Knox has seen SFs thrive at Duke, too, but in cases like Parker and Ingram they thrived in part by playing PF - which is apparently something Knox does NOT want to do. And then we have Jefferson, a SF out of HS who was forced to play center. And then we have guys like Semi and Murphy who were basically thrown under the bus at Duke."
1. In fact (never let those get in your way), Jefferson was recruited as a power forward.

2. Players "thrown under the bus"? Really? With a little patience, Semi would have earned significant PT at Duke. He's doing well now at SMU and all Duke fans are happy for him.
3. Murphy was very good in practice, but it just didn't translate to games. His stint at Florida was similar. He's doing well now at a lower level of play (Northeastern) and all Duke fans are happy for him.
4. Duke generally plays position-less basketball. As such, labeling our players as SF, PF or C ignores how the game is evolving. Coach K recruits players who want to be part of something bigger than themselves. I seriously doubt Amile would complain about being "forced" to do anything.
