When we hired Riley, how many of you had to google Riley?

I'm betting most had no idea who he was. I watched Oregon State beat USC back in 2008, that's probably the only reason I knew who he was.

Don't have any true insiders at Florida but do have a buddy who is a big fan and follows them closely. From what he has read/heard it sounds like Chip Kelly might be #1 on their list. He also mentioned Charlie Strong us under consideration, which surprises me. Frost is definitely on their list. One scenario he threw out there is a long shot but could cause ripples with Frost. It would be if they brought Taggert back from Oregon and Frost was interested in Oregon. Seems that more than one source has said Oregon was the preferred college of Frost's wife and he also really enjoyed his time there. Would get him out of the Husker Fishbowl to a place he liked coaching at. Knows what he would be getting into.

While this is the only scenario that worries me, he wanted back to Nebraska when he was already at Oregon.

Do we really know that? Things change a lot with a wife and new child. If mom ain't happy, ain't no one happy!

The move to Nebraska then was for promotion. This would be for the head job at either location. Changes the stakes a little

Money may not buy happiness, but 4-5M a year can sure help. IF Papa Frost ain't making millions, ain't no one making millions. She is a coaches wife, she better be ready for change and some changes may not be all about her.
Exactly. If he really wanted to be back in NE coaching, hard to believe that issue wouldn’t have come up. Buy a couple three modest $500,000 vacation homes in various states for her and her gated-community friends to go when they want some time away.

Yeah, you don't marry a coach if you want to stay in one location for the rest of your life. Very few coaches stay anywhere more than a few years, so if you plan to marry one, you better get used to moving.

Hard to believe that Charlie Strong would be one of their top three candidates so soon after failing at Texas.

He has 12+ years of coaching @ Florida. If we want Frost to bring back the culture then maybe Florida feels the same way. He struggled as a head coach @ Texas but did great @ Louisville & doing well South Florida. Maybe he understand Florida kids and not Texas kids.

Also, people brag about UT's location but IMO I'd hate to coach football in Austin. It's such a fun town with so many things to do, it'd be hard to keep my football players focused. And I am not joking. It takes major dedication from college kids to be successful @ college football and going to bars 4 nights a week is not the way to go.

On the flip side, Gainsville is a sh*thole. Easier to keep kids focused in that dump.

Part of his deal would likely be use of a private jet. It's a pretty easy flight to Phoenix on a private jet. Remote starters on of her Mercedes SUVs. Heated garage. Heck limo service door to door if she wanted. Indoor spa at her house. 2 country club memberships. Mmm I think she would be fine with her hubby making 5m/year.

I think it's a little crazy and rude to make assumptions and without basis criticize potential HC's wife. She is first-time mom so has other things on her mind. Just because unnamed source says she really likes NW coast does not signal that she does not understand the nature of CFB as a business nor wouldn't support her husband in his career; that's pretty myopic.

I'm not criticizing her at all. Not at all. My wife has her remote starter and we heat the garage. She would take the spa, private jet to Phoenix, limo service in the cold, maid service, etc everyday of the week if she we wanted to pay for it. That's not a slam. It's just a fact. Not everybody is a put on the coveralls and go out and brave the elements person like myself. The point is that even though we have a little cold weather (not nearly as cold in Lincoln as where I live), life can be very comfortable for a warm weather loving person in Nebraska.

Even so, I really don't think it's all that helpful to be engaged in suggesting how people operate in their personal lives. With 100% certainty, new coach's wife/family can get these things figure out on their own.

Relax. The discussion was clearly based on the premise that she may not be happy with living in Nebraska. Just some easy and harmless board discussion. I'm certain she's a wonderful lady.

You think? This isn't really a good place for somebody with thin skin. There's a lot uglier stuff that gets said on an anonymous message board than concerns about keeping a coach's wife happy. Personally, I've been married for 37 years. My wife has lots of friends. I know how marriage works and wives think. The point is that NU will provide all the assets to make their life together very comfortable.

but this is exactly how the kind of untruths like Ashley Frost hates Nebraska get started. also families should be left out unless they choose to enter the public fray. she has made no public statements that I'm aware of. Oh and it's Friday I'm pretty relaxed, but I will take 5 minutes to mediate, thanks for you suggestion

I did in fact hear it reported (which could be wrong too) that Bob had a heart issue. I Don't know if he's got coronary artery disease or what but given his family history it's not unlikely. He's got all the money he could ever want. Why not enjoy it.
You do this all the time. Post the link.

I haven't seen anyone, anywhere, state that she hates Nebraska. You might want to make it 30. You're welcome.

Allegedly the job is Frost's if he wants it. Starting to sound like he did want it. Consider that the word from UF went from him being their #1 guy to allegedly no longer being on the list...something sure changed in a hurry and it wasn't the number in his team's L column.

I would be very happy about Patterson. I'll believe Stoops is done when 5 years have passed and he's not coaching. Remember when Urban couldn't coach any more for "health reasons"? Couple years went by and suddenly he was well enough again. Must have been that clean air up in the broadcast booth.

If there's such a thing as "meant to be" then the stars have aligned for Frost. It would be a movie-perfect script if he could come home to NE and bring the Huskers back to glory.

It was on a freaking national radio show or sports column months ago. You look it up.

Maybe Bob Stoops' cable installer overheard it and told one of your family members?

You expect others to validate what you say when you get called on your baloney. Nice.

I hear your mom calling. Better go clean your room.
