Well the weather came in and things got crazy in I-8 land.......Like I said before some of the games were hard to predict and get a read on and we may not even know what the result means just yet but it will all start coming together soon. Streator needed to win their toss-up game against Morton and this could end up affecting their playoff chances. Sandwich wins again......will that translate into a playoff run? Who knows?! This is just the beginning! Herscher moves to 2-0 and Peotone lost a battle against Tinley. Congrats to Braidwood, you won't be skunked this year!

Winners- Lisle moves to 2-0 and continues to build their case for a shot at Wilmo's crown. Coal City is also a big winner. They came out with a chip on their shoulder and dominated. Puts them back on the right track.

Losers- Wilmo. I haven't seen them take a whooping like that in quite some time. CC fumbled their first play from scrimmage, Wilmo recovered, then couldn't capitalize. Not typical of classic Wilmo. They are in for a long road ahead this season if they want to take advantage of IC being in 4a and make that deep playoff run that they are hoping for. The stands were dead, the cats looked flat, and CC pounded them up front on both sides. Skubic from CC is a beast and it has been a long time since I have seen a team be more physical than Wilmington. If the game was played on Friday I think it would have been a little closer but CC looks like the better team.

Can't wait to see some of the big matchups this week and start to feel out how this conference will unfold!

This will be a telling week in the I8, Wilmington needs a win. And they have not played their best up at Benedictine against Lisle recently. Mantenos season very well could be lost with Warren breaking his ankle, he was their offense. I am not sure how they recover from this. Sandwich gets 2 wins that they needed to get and have put themselves in a great position to make the playoffs, they will need 6 wins though. I don't think they will get enough points to make it at 5-4. Streators loss will end up hurting them. RC congrats on the victory, savor it. Herscher moves to 2-0 win a very unimpressive win against Clifton Central.

RC @ Peotone - RC keeps it close for 2 quarters and Peotone takes over in the second half. Peotone wins 34-13

Sandwich @ Manteno - The loss of Warren is huge. Sandwich controls this game on the ground and beats Manteno 20-7. Manteno moved to 0-3 and is in trouble with games left against CC, Peotone and Herscher

Streator @ Plano - Plano has been competitive but arent quite their yest. Streator needs this win to stay alive. Streator 16 Plano 7

Wilmington @ Lisle - Wilmington got absolutely dominated on both sides of the ball Saturday night against CC. This is a tough stretch of games for them travelling to Lisle then at Sandwich then hosting Peotone. Lisle is hasn't been dominating in their wins but have been winning. They have almost dethrone the Wildcats a few times the past few years but have come up short. Lisle 28 Wilmington 27. Whens the last time a Reents Wilmington team started 1-2

Herscher @ Coal City - CC was clicking in all phases Saturday against Wilmington. Controlled both lines of scrimmage with their best lineman on the sideline injured. Great mix of run and pass on offense and the defense swarmed the Wildcat running backs. Herscher won a close on against Clifton but Dorsey again dominated. Should be a good running back battle with Skubic and Dorsey. Coal City 31 Herscher 20

Whens the last time a Reents Wilmington team started 1-2

'01, after a loss at Peotone, Spring Valley Hall demoralized the Cats at home. Probably the worst year for Wilmo since Reents has started (not including his first year as a coach), IF not for the '06 season. In '06 they were 3-4 going into the last two weeks of the season and then had two close wins to make the playoffs.

Also like your predictions for a week 3 preview!

Agree with all except Wilmo wins a tough one.

Still a lot of unanswered questions in the conference. Wilmington can very well turn it around and win against Lisle. Is Sandwich that good? I am up in the air about Herscher. Cant tell if they are that good of a 2-0 team

Manteno traditionally develops a QB in every other class...Warren was the senior, I don't recall a jr listed as a QB on the roster...Borkenhagen was the less than impressive soph starter week 1 against Wilmo...Haines, I'm sure, has a rabbit somewhere (like starting Warren in the middle of last season)...I'm not sure, however, he wants to break in the rabbit against a much more confident than I expected Sandwich squad...I wonder if any of 15-16 QB Gavin Zimbelman's talent rubbed off on his soph cousin Luke Trepanier, who started week 1 as a slot receiver...

Lisle is 2-0...Wilmo is visiting its house of horrors at Benedictine, on turf, .coming off one of its worst games in years. However, the Cats thumped Manteno with its returning starting QB, while Lisle beat the Panthers less impressively with Warren hurt...The 2014 Cats didn't play particularly well on Saturday after being postponed on Friday against CC either, although they won...This was probably Wilmington's wake up punch...my concern would again be xp issues on the turf, although I think the Cats will overtake the Lions...

Streator at Plano...sorry Reapers, you may not harvest any wins this year...

RC got a win...a second win will be very difficult...Peotone with the win...

CC vs. Herscher...The Tigers fattened up with 2A Central & Momence...their running game is developing well...After shutting down Wilmington and severely slowing down Morris, the Coalers should just continue to be difficult for anyone to run on...The Tigers will likely have a rough weekend...

Peotone and Coal City are substantial favorites. The other games are all virtual coin flips.
