I was able to speak to Providence juniors WR Martez Malone and RB Richie Warfield (one of the team captains). Both are great, polite kids and had this to say after their 35-13 loss to JCA:

Malone (on his first varsity game): The speed of the game took some getting used to. I felt I did pretty good. I had a couple of catches and just missed on two others which would've resulted in touchdowns. This isn't like sophomores were you can get away with some mistakes or can get open pretty easily. But now that I have the experience I can adjust and make improvements.

Warfield (on his play and how they can bounce back): We wanted to establish the run early, but couldn't open up any holes against the defensive line of JCA. So we started to get me involved in the passing game on screen passes. That's an element of our game we always have in our back pocket and had some success with it. We need to improve our intensity and focus going forward. Both were lacking tonight. JCA didn't bring anything we didn't expect, but we didn't match their intensity.

Both players spoke of Coach Cogs (the head coach) telling them they will bounce back and there's alot of season left to make improvements and be able to have a successful season.

I know. Lots of talent there. A few plays could've gone for TDs, some stalled drives, but they went up against a good team last night, that's all.
