In Championship round
125: (6) Thomas Gilman vs. (3) Joey Dance, Virginia Tech
133: (3) Cory Clark vs. (6) Earl Hall, Iowa State
174: (3) Mike Evans vs. (6) Logan Storley, Minnesota
184: (9) Sam Brooks vs. (1) Gabe Dean, Cornell
197: (6) Nathan Burak vs. (3) Kyven Gadson, Iowa State
Looks like two and maybe three make it to semi's.
Consolations
141: (5) Josh Dziewa - Faces Dardanes and then possibly Mayes. Doesn't place
149: (3) Brandon Sorenson - Gets Ream, possibly Beitz, and then 7th seed. if he gets past Beitz he places
HWT: (3) Bobby Telford - Should place but Brands hasn't had them ready for Nationals past 2-3 years. He slips up again and doesn't place.
I am predicting all five in the quarters place with one in the conso's placing giving Iowa 6 AA's. I think they fall out of the team race with no one making the finals.
Update after Friday morning session
Iowa pushed three wrestlers into the semi's with Gilman getting the upset. Three guaranteed AA's. Dziewa has crashed out but Telford earning some bonus points and Sorenson staying alive. That gives them four in the conso's and while all four could AA I am sticking with my forecast of 6. However, the bracket opened up somewhat at 125 and 133 for Iowa to get into the finals. Will it be enough to pass Ohio St.?
