Eric Thompson is a good coach, but if that's the big move that's rumored I'll be disappointed.

If he is replacing Telford, we shouldn't forget he is our least paid, at least through the university, coach. If M* leaves too, which I haven't heard he is, that frees up significantly more money for an assistant on top of Thompson being from Iowa.
I guess I disagree. Telford leaving is big news. Iowa hasn't had a lot of turnover on the wrestling staff.

There has mostly been honest disagreement over the state of the program with those two and a handful who made it personal... and its not like msu and Corby weren't giving back as much as they were getting.

Well those 2 basically called exactly what happened at NCAA. Say what you want about where the program is and that finish not meeting expectations of the program, but they both called us wrestling the best we had all year. And because 4th isn’t good enough they were still attacked. Can you really blame Corby for having info and not wanting to share it after all that BS?
Well Yianni and Gwiz would be WAY too exciting for this staff to ever let happen so whatever is going to happen can’t possibly be better than adding those two guys IMO.
Last I heard we are getting a 6 foot 8 Ukrainian that deadlifts 960 and can make 125.
They were "attacked" (I'd say disagreed with but since everyone is in their feelings we'll stick with it) bc they are being as equally critical of those saying 4th isn't good enough. And mind you that's coming from two self admitted non Iowa fans.
I'm not surprised the team wrestled better than they had since national duals nor am I surprised they took 4th. As many of us have said, both things can be true and people can disagree on whether it's good enough for them or not.
But the main posters that were mixing it up with corby were psu trolls, you can see it from their other posts.
If either of them are seriously uptight bc of any disagreements people like me have had with them then they probably need to get off message boards.
The people on the negative side (of which I am one, at least insofar as wanting change) were trying to have it both ways. Going in they were talking about "lucky to be 7th" and other wild takes. Then, when the team wrestled well, they refused to take the L.
For what this team was, that was a fantastic performance. It's a credit to the staff that they got that performance out of that squad. It can simultaneously be true that the squad being at that level is a problem and that's the fault of the staff, but the negatives refused to acknowledge being wrong about the first part.

Want is more than reality when another team is doing what Iowa used to do to everyone else.
Life was great when we were the ones doing it. We suck now that somebody else is doing it to us.
Thats fine, but if you're going to predict things, and you get it wrong, you have to acknowledge that.

I will predict (that unless I get hit by a car) before I die...both teams will win it all multiple times.
There’s a difference between reporting and predicting. When people who know things make predictions it makes the board fun and interesting. Even when they’re wrong it brings energy knowing it means there’s a chance. Conversely our new status is watching MSU debate everyone about the difference between 6 and 7 while we scroll past Iron Hawk rants.
Some of you have been around a lot longer than me but my recollection of the old “inside information” is pretty much what Corby is doing now except he has added some insults. “Patience good news is coming from the south” type stuff.

Tom is such an awkward public speaker it leaves people squirming in their seats. C/D students shouldn't be made to speak in public.

It absolutely was and is still the core argument. One of the posters you mentioned managed to make it about this March instead of the last 4 years (and really beyond), but that doesn't change things. Actually is highlights the disagreement perfectly. Those two are ultimately fine with 4th, most of the rest of us aren't.
