Welcome Young Man!!!! Bet this was a huge dream of his growing up in state, excited to see him at the next level!
Just the start of good news!
Currently a 138 and ranked #38 in his class. He will be a lineup contender.
Thinking he was at 138 at Super 32 due to the lax weigh in rules and he's more of a 144 for this season. Guessing that since he wrestled 138 in HS last season. Am I wrong? Tell me I'm wrong.
I figured he was a lock for UNI and Schwab since he is right down the road at Don Bosco and thats where Schwabs kids wrestle but maybe they project at the same weight as them.
How can he be ranked #38 in his class when Flo doesn't even have him ranked in top 20 at any weight? Unless I'm missing something.
He's a bit bigger than the Schwab bros. He'll be a 41/49 most likely.
If we're truly in on the guys we've been discussing, this seems like a bit of an odd commit, but get em on board and sort it out in the room (but not at the Soldier Salute).

Hey willie in the last bash and the brain episode wasn't youngblut one of the kids you mentioned about getting over the hump and placing at a national tournament like super 32? Hopefully we see even more of a upward trend with him

Flo has him 29th on their 2027 Big Board. I mentioned somewhere in the recruiting thread asking if "does anyone else like Dawson Youngblut". I like the kid quite a lot; I think he is far more than a room guy or a backup.

He won state at 138 as a soph last season and it sounds like heās going at 144 this year. He was 138 for S32 but you weigh in a day prior to competition. Doubt 141 is going to be in the cards 2+ years down the road.

You certainly donāt expect a top 30 kid to be a āroom guy.ā Even if a kid with that ranking ends up as backup, it doesnāt make them a room guy.

Seems like a natural 149 but you never know these days. I mean Mikey and PK were both in the mix for 157 the past 2 years.
Someone asked above if he's a room guy, that's what that comment was directed to. I said I liked the kid a lot, I'd been propping him on another site as a kid I think can be a solid starter for a good program with some lower AA potential.

Not a big deal my friend, but the point was that 141 seems incredibly unlikely so I don't think of him as a 141/149. More like 149/157.
Or maybe didn't know he was ranked that high. He commented before others were talking about his ranking.
