They’re looking tough. I’m interested to see if they can keep it up for both halves.

Yeah they were my dark horse last year. I know they were ranked highly but I thought they were primed for a deep run. I wouldn’t wanna get matchup up with them pre elite 8, preferably final 4 type match.
Not worried about them. The chances of UK having to play them are slim to none.
My wife’s brother went all the way through grad school at Iowa State (then Drake law school.) If they can beat Kansas twice this year I’ll wear a Cyclone hat the next time we get together after that.

Game may end up great down the stretch here. 16 point lead at half and Auburn immediately goes 9-0 to start the 2nd to make it 7 points with 16+ left in the game
Holy smokes, hit a 3 with the foul to potentially turn a 16 point half-time lead to 4 with 15 left in the 2nd. When we host, we can't let up on the gas no matter what
Auburn is for real. I know a lot of people didn’t want him on here but Pearl has proven over and over he can coach and he doesn’t even get access to the best recruits. I can only imagine him with an elite brand and donor base behind him
Yeah there is a lot of hate on here for Pearl but in a world without CMP I would have been happy to try him out. He dreamed of coaching at UK and in my humble opinion would have been a much better fit than Drew would have.

That was physical big boy basketball combined with modern offense. These types of teams manhandled our young teams of the last 5 years. Our guards and bigs simply couldn’t handle that kind of physicality.
I’m curious to see how we play against Auburn. I’m confident our team won’t get pushed around. We’ll have to have a few players that can play through contact off the dribble. I think Butler and Oweh can penetrate through that physical style of defense.

Biggest issue with him is the cheating. NCAA would've put every resource imaginable to tracking every email, every brown paper bag, every trip to Walmart, and anything else to incriminate Pearl/UK. It would've given the organization a semi the same way flopping players do for duke. They'd know the regularity of Pearl's bowel movements.
Dude could've killed it here and has the personality for it, but that cheating... At least I have to imagine that's what the issue(s) was/were.

Contact players on other teams and offer them deals before they are in the transfer portal would be one way. Paying kids in high school or parents/handlers to sign with a certain team.
Well they are a much better team this year. But that was one of those surprising wins Cal would pull off sometimes. At Auburn,at Kansas, at Arkansas. Those were big time wins. His big time wins paled in comparison to his big time loses however.
Fair point! I actually kept that game on my DVR (along with UT & Ala) up until a few weeks ago.
I’m not a Cal hater, but I didn’t mind him leaving. When we shot the ball well last year we were a tough team to beat. But, most of our defeats (over the last 5 years) were when we got bullied under the goal and our guards simply couldn’t hold up defensively.
We didn’t shoot some amazing % against Duke, but Butler, Oweh, and Williams provided a physical presence that limited their young talent. Carr also had an excellent offensive game.
To your point, we defeated Auburn (and split with UT) last year. But, those types of teams have pushed us around for a few years. We’ll take some losses this year, but my main point is that we are much more physical than we’ve been in years past.
