It’s hard to believe that most of the players on THIS team were 31-4 a year ago. Not looking like it will translate in the BIG.
Missing 2 key players that he hasn’t really replaced on the court. Both guys played 4-5 years and played almost every minute. Koch a really young guy still learning and we haven’t had that dependable 3 pt shooter that his Drake team had who could also defend. Now if Cael keeps playing like this it’s going to really help us. We need Koch to improve quickly. Just not sure he’s ready. Sage looks to be coming on quickly.

IMO I would take some pressure off Koch and start Sage as he seems to be more confident. Sage is as good of, if not better shot, and he is better athlete. Koch is struggling this year, but I do think Koch will be very good before he graduates. Next year they will make a good pair.

Also, I think BS has too much pressure to be the man all the time.

The officiating is the reason we have lost all of our games, am I right!?

Combs was money. So was Howard sick tonight. He played maybe just a minute or two in the first half and never got out of his sweats after that. He's usually a high energy guys off the bench.

Trying to follow BMC's advice and not fall in love with losing close. But looking at the bigger picture, we're a young team and the guys who are experienced mostly came from Drake and the lower levels. We've gone into some of the toughest environments in basketball. In reality, we probably shouldn't have the highest of hopes. But with how the guys have performed against these top teams proves BMC's system works.

Tonight wasn't his night. He played poorly. He had a two hand shove on a screen for a TO. He missed assignments. He just had no positive impact on the team tonight. I think he will be a great baller when it's all said and done. Just not tonight.

Wondering why Coach bothered to even let Hausen transfer in. Has only played sparingly all season so far, if even at all in quite a few games.

Two straight games with zero playing time, and in both games, a potentially hot hand behind the arc was desperately needed.

I trust in Ben McCollum, but I just don't get it on this situation.
They shot 48% from 3. I can't remember the last time they shot that well against a good team on the road.

Last 12min of the game the refs bent us over and spared the lube. This **** gets so f’n tiring game after game just getting jobbed by the zebras
Hey, the refs know who they're playing and who is the favorites, that's no secret, they're 1 of the best teams in the Big, if Iowa wh

The refs know what teams they are working the game and who's the better team, if you want to beat the best especially if you are a new coach, your team better play their best, Iowa made too many mistakes to get the calls, but they again played hard and kept the score under the odds , which is encouraging. I still like what I see from the players just don't have the experience to take down a team like Purdue year. Better days are ahead!

Im starting to wonder if Ben is overthinking things... Sometimes you gotta let these guys play through the adversity. Like another posted said: Why did Hausen transfer to Iowa? To be a cheerleader? The dude has shown he can play in big games... Cooper will be very good eventually but I dont understand why he is starting right now, total deer in the headlights and then Fulgeuiras is great against mid majors and then looks lost versus decent teams...

I know we all got tired of Fran McCaffery's OTT schtick, at some point, but I wouldn't mind McCollum drawing a small fine from the league for calling out the officiating.

Every team gets an incredible buffet of home cooking, but Iowa's own 'advantage' is more like just a tiny plate of picked over scraps.
I agree, but being a new coach in the league I gotta think Ben will take a more methodical approach to questioning the refs….maybe akin to slowly beating them with a bag of oranges…😉

Oh, Chishawk1425.

You fooking drunk.

Seriously, put the bottle down and STFU.
What? A. Not whatever you said I was and B. You’re a pathetic joke and lunatic which the entire board sees and agrees on. Shut up

Oh, Chis. Why do you lie so much?

On Iowa Rivals, as Chishawk1425, you told us about your uncle living down the street from Jodi Huisentruit's apartment complex and about that mysterious white van that your uncle saw in the parking lot.

On this site, as Rosebowlorbust, you again told us about your uncle living down the street from Jodi Huisentruit's apartment complex and about that mysterious white van that your uncle saw in the parking lot.

And you clearly are the lunatic; we all know you are Chishawk1425. We all know you are a drunk. And how many times did you get a time out on Iowa Rivals because of your melt downs? I lost count; there were so many.

And @Scrubby , @Roncuba65 , @WDDT . & @Hawkman98 can all vouch for everything I typed above, you fooking loser.

Agree 100%, Koch would be much better off the bench…

The irony, Chishawk1425.

You never did tell me; does the .14 and the .25 stand for what you blew during 2 different stops?

You really shouldn't pick fights in game threads....or anywhere, for that matter.

It’s a head scratcher for sure, he must have had some inkling of his Defensive prowess watching his Kstate tapes? Ironically I’d guess Hausen probably plays better defense than anyone on many of Fran’s rosters. 😎

We shot 12-25 from 3. That’s really good. If Ben thought Hausen could help the team he would be playing. Maybe he’s wrong, who knows?

Who should be playing in place of these guys then?

But wouldn't you have figured out beforehand if a player fits your system or not, in the process of letting them transfer in?

Maybe he had no choice or other options, but Hausen has been very little more than just a bench warmer in the first 17 games this season.

I agree. I’d guess he was hoping he’d fill the role of Mascari from Drake last year but Mascari was a very solid defender even though he wasn’t very quick, he was also physical. And of course 90% of his baskets were 3’s. Maybe someone should ask him why Hausen doesn’t play?

But still needed more 3s made, meaning more points.
Sure, but he's not operating in a vacuum. Hausen is shooting 38% from 3. The team shot 48%. If he's playing he's taking someone else's minutes and shots. Combs hit 4-5 3's with 5 rebounds and 3 assists and played unbelievable defense. Banks was 3-3 and had 3 assists. Tate was 2-4 and grabbed 4 rebounds. Which one did you want Hausen to replace?

Exactly. Combs was great tonight.
