It’s at Iowa and they have at least a reasonable chance at 125, 133, 184 and 285. It won’t be quite the blowout some think.
125, 133 and 141 are possibilities, but probable PSU wins.
184 is going to be who has the most OT riding time.
Hwt is an Iowa probable.

The final score will be lopsided.
33-3. If Iowa has a good night 30-6.

Agree.

Iowa is favored, at least slightly, at 184 and 285. The 184 bout seems destined to go to OT tied at 1-1.

Other thoughts/observations:

125 - Has Lilledahl looked a bit off his last few matches? Not sure. But Peterson can be tough and beat LL last season.
141 - Really not sure what to expect here. Davis beat Bailey 1-0 last season at 133. Davis looked to be kinda gassed the last half of the Rutgers bout yesterday (1/10/26).
165 - Calendo wrestled MM very tough in their last match in the 2025 NCAA final, much closer than their previous bouts, which were all bonus point wins for MM.

Also… Peterson will wrestle for a one score match, Ayala will wrestle for a one score match, Nasir will, Ryder SVN could get weird, Williams will try to wrestle a one score match don’t think it’ll work though, Caliendo will let it fly and and is Iowa’s best wrestler, Kennedy will wrestle for a one score, Ferrari will take it to overtime, Endene will try, probably not succeed and Kueter is the favorite. Going up be a grind the whole time. Great test

Think of the Iowa fan base which is great. For 30 years they would walk into Carver expecting to win. It must be a very discouraging feeling to walk into that arena HOPING the Hawks win 2 or 3 bouts. Must really be hard to stomach. I enjoy every minute of the pain PSU puts on that program because Brands is a jerk .

It’s official! Iowa week!!

Is this the week we sneak onto Iowa's campus in the middle of the night, glue blue and white lions on their welcome sign, and paint a Penn State singlet on the Gable statue?

What am I saying. Such antics are reserved for rivals. I'm sure Cael is just trying to decide whether to reward some of our room guys with the chance to wrestle in the once-hallowed coliseum of an ancient dynasty Friday night.

I generally agree. Because its at Carver I'll predict 3 Iowa wins (hope I'm wrong). Also, Caliendo won't hold MM to a decision this time. He's not "closing the gap".

The longer he stays in the Iowa room, the more he wrestles not to lose, and the more he slows down the match. So he keeps it to a decision but he can’t win that way.

125 LL dec 3-0 I see this as pretty close to a tossup. Luke hasn’t looked dominant lately
133 Blaze dec 6-0 You can’t write Ayala off, will be a dogfight
141 Davis dec 9-0 Hard one to predict, lots of unknowns and change with whoever’s here
149 Van Ness dec 12-0 I think Block will try to keep the score low, SVN just misses MD
157 Duke MD 16-0
165 Mesenbrink dec 19-0 What is this, like the 9th match between these two? Caliendo hasn’t closed any gaps, they’re just way too familiar with each other. Familiarity is a neutralizer
174 Haines dec 22-0
184 Ferrari dec 22-3 Could go either way, probably goes to TB’s. I’ll 1-1 my tossups
197 Barr MD 26-3 Will be an interesting one, wouldn’t be surprised if Endene slows it down to a decision
285 Kueter dec 26-6

That’s what I got, probably be a couple more bonus wins somewhere. And at Iowa, they may pull out a third match somewhere. Iowa fans will be yelling stalling all night and fire Brands afterward.

Bouts at PSU 8-2, 7-3 a real probability. But it’s Carter so anything can happen and probably will. Upsets can happen and probably will.

Could be a tight one. Brands may have figured out this coaching thing. He’s not a fast reader, but he must have finally read the “Get better at wrestling” chapter in the binder. Some media guy thought he stumped Tom with a question about if the team could get better at wrestling. Tom said, “We have to get better at wrestling.” and made his eyes wide and stared at the guy. All the media knew they were out-matched and started doing Ric Flair woooos.

I say 22-9 for PSU. I think Iowa gets hit for stalling 4 times or less and and there will be four matches decided by 3 points or less.
