-Can Luke avenge a loss?
-Can a true frosh beat a two-time national runnerup?
-Can versatile handyman Braeden patch another weight class repair?
-Can SVN & Duke defeat length with strength?
-Can MM turn Mikey?
-Can Levi draw his bow and arrow?
-Can Rocco take down Ferrari?
-Can Josh beat a new dad? :( Hope nothing serious for him. Was becoming a fan of Endeme's story.
-Can the CHA upset belong to Cole?

Amazing that it’s not too farfetched to think all answers can be yes.
Is it Friday yet?

Agreed... I see Mitch still improving and his attacks are becoming more diverse... I really dont know that I see how Caliendo would score on Mitch with enough consistency to erase what Mitch will bring. I think defensively caliendo can slow the onslaught for a little but no enough offense to give himself a realistic chance at a victory
they will both represent the US well internationally

To hit on two topics in this thread: I don’t think Iowa has any good answers post TnT, certainly not from their tree. No one is worried about Spencer Lee as a head coach, I’d offer Gilman before that route. Playing field will definitely level after Cael but I think our guy should and will be Dake. Maniacal winner, enjoys helping others, has an aura and probably the only thing that keeps DT up at night despite being bffffs.
Just my opinion I'm think Kemmerer is getting the experience he needs to at sometime take a head coaching position. He is low profile but i can see him being successful as a head coach.

Talking about potential coaches in the future. When Cael decides to retire, Does Cody and/or Casey have interest in becoming Head Coach at PSU or another program??

4-5 bonus wins. Haines and mesenbrink jumped yet another level.
Those two could easily be bonus wins ... I felt like Levi for sure could be
I also feel like PJ could be if VV goes
if Arnold goes... this may be close early and then Barr gases him and pulls away for a maj dec

There are some great early BIG 10 tests for us here:
125
#2 Luke dec #6 Dean Peterson (luke gets his revenge) 3-0 PSU
133
#4 Marcus dec # 8 Drake Ayala (this will be a close one) 6-0 PSU
141
#7 Scooter dec #10 Nasir Bailey (his first big test at 141) 9-0 PSU
149
#1 SVN dec #12 Ryder Block (SVN will win it late) 12-0 PSU
157
#4 PJ maj dec Victor Vonivich (will dec if Williams) 15-0 PSU
165
#1 Mitch dec over #3 Mikey Caliendo (will pull away in 3rd) 18-0 PSU
174
#1 Levi dec over # 3 Patrick Kennedy (close to maj dec) 21-0 PSU
184
#4 Rocco drops one in SV to #1 Angelo Ferrari 21-3 PSU
197
#1 Barr dec #3 Massamo Endene (if Arnold maj dec) 24-3 PSU
HVY
#12 Cole drops a 7-2 dec to # 5 Ben Kueter 24-6 PSU

Worst
case scenario 18- 12
Best
case scenario Rocco and Cole pull off a victory and we shut them out 30-0 (i dont think a shutout is likely as we peak in March)
I am confident that Rocco can win this one but he will see Angelo now and learn and beat Angelo in the post season when it counts regardless of the outcome Friday
so realistically 24-6 maybe 21-9
😂😂 last night I had those exact thoughts for my KYPSW picks. Lots of decisions.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that age wise, Cael is the youngest of the trio. When he's ready to call it quits, Cody and Casey might be thinking the same.

I think Duke will slaughter either of the 157 lb. guys Iowa can put out there. His pace may kill poor Williams if it is him.
I think Williams will keep it closer... but I agree PJs pace will gas Williams and he will pull away in the end... 10-3
I think he will pull away from VV and we would be looking at 14 or 15 -3

Awel that sucks. I was excited to see how he handled Big tens and Nationals. Wrestling a D1 schedule is one thing, wrestling two successive intense d1 tournaments, the two toughest there are, is entirely different. I thought his length and height may hurt him and he'd be a good round guy, but he absolutely could've thrown a wrench in quite a few guys plans come march.

Brands on how he views the test of facing Penn State:

"You're going to have to go to stay on the mat with them. You're going to have to score. And, you're going to have to score again and again to stay on the mat with them. And so this isn't coming down to whether this is going to be like normal, because there's nothing normal about this. And the thing is, we don't have normal guys in our room. So there is a choice. There is a choice here."

Brands' full quote:

"My statement to that is, is sometimes these things work and sometimes they don't work, and this one just didn't work out," Brands said. "We wish him the best, and that's the extent of it."
I did sorta like how the guy nevertheless asked the predictable follow up about whether he could expand on it, and Tom sorta looked confused as to how to respond rather than simply saying "no."

it's such a strange paradox - for a guy who is as physically aggressive as he is in an aggressive profession, he gets so defensive so quickly in conversational/press settings.

Assume we get Harvey Luddington Friday. He still has dates available…just wondering if Brands pulls his shirt for rest of season. Zelesky was fired after his only not top 5 finish (seventh place) just two Years out from BigTen Coach of the year and not terribly long after three NCAA Championships. Brands has been fifth and multiple 4ths…this year shaping up for a 7th place finish. And five years since they won and that was an empty arena with a bunch of sixth years COVID guys who mostly underperformed. We got the excuses are for wussies out of Spencer.

Likewise, I adore his unique gift to repeat at least one word or phrase from the preceding sentence in each succeeding sentence. It's one of the things that make him so comically imitable and lovable.

How important could the crowd be when some of the Lions' younger wrestlers take the mat?

"Yeah, you're talking to a guy that isn't one that is going to say that, 'Hey, we got to get the crowd into it. We got to keep the crowd into it,'" Brands said.

"I'm saying when it's your time to step on the mat, know what you're up against and go do what you're capable of doing. And that isn't waiting to see. That's not seeing which way the wind's blowing. Go do what you were born to do."

What is Iowa's plan at 197 now?

"We want to be really, really smart with Ludington," Brands said. "He's our best option based on results at the Soldier Salute. We are going to be smart and we will take it week to week."

Oof. They are stuck. Ludington definitely has talent and potential, but his results thusfar definitely point to benefitting greatly from a RS year this year. I think it has to be Ludington on Friday since he still has a date to use before they have to make a decision on the shirt, but then they're either going to have to pull his shirt for a small handful of points at nationals or have a black hole (probable non-qualifier) at 197. Next man up if they don't pull the shirt appears to be Brody Sampson, whose last match was a TF loss to a North Carolina backup and who has 4 D2/D3 losses this year. I know I'd keep him in RS, but TNT might be coaching for their jobs if things really go south this season.
