I thought Iowa had a pretty good night. They won one more match then they really should have, and they scored two more takedowns than I thought possible. All in all, the Hawks achieved a level of success above what they should have. They were successful tonight.
I guess not getting blanked and keeping the Lions under 40 is a moral victory.

Yep.
It's all relative. There was a time Iowa could reasonably expect to challenge and with a good effort beat Penn State. That moment is gone. Now, winning a match, keeping a couple others to within one score and actually able to talk about offensive scoring, twice - these are huge successes for the Hawks.
So many thoughts in my head after I rewatched it. I’ll post more of my thoughts tomorrow but it is so unwatchable at this point. Antiquated. Disturbing. Boring. Sad. Limp. Pathetic. And if a change isn’t made after this year then RIP to Iowa Wrestling.

The saddest thing of all is that Kennedy is one of the best representatives that Iowa currently has of the style Tom professes.
I think there is a plan. It is going to be Spencer, but not until probably Olympics 2028 plus 1.

Very strange message to post imho. You would think an "announcement" would be a change (i.e., you don't announce "no changes" - that isn't announcement worthy news). Why would there be "multiple sources" reporting no change??? That's just kind of bizzare - if there is no announcement of a change, it's defacto obvious there's no change.
There's no way they "announce" that they're firing the coach two days before the conference tournament. That's just unnecessarily sabotaging the team. If they flop at nationals again this season, they could easily make a change, but they're not going to say that now.
Well I agree with that, but the post made making the announcement of no change on X and attributing that it is be reported by multiple sources is equally bizarre.... Of course there are no changes unless, and until, changes are announced. I just find it to be a very bizarre supposed news "scoop" by the poster.
It makes sense to announce this against the backdrop of rampant speculation that the opposite is true.

Don't forget that this is a typical MO for an institution when they are planning on making a change but are not yet ready to announce it.
This year what would be a flop? If they finish 6th or better I would think they had an unexpectedly great tournament. However, a 6th place finish for Iowa would normally be perceived as a flop.
Since Cael Sanderson arrived at PSU, the team’s worst finish at NCAA’s has been 6th. Just. Incredible. This program is a joy to be a fan of. Enjoy every moment.
