Did they change permissions on HR? Either that or I’ve been banned (for doing what? - I’ve been in zero confrontations there). I can see and edit old posts, but can’t reply.
Ditto. Was waiting for someone else to say something. And there’s no way I’ve done anything over there to warrant a ban. I’m wondering if it’s temporary for NCAAs.

No one has posted there for more than 2 hours this morning. I’m guessing it’s an IT issue affecting all.

Refresh or use another browser. Sometimes i get on and can just read but none of the titles are highlighted. They have to be highlighted.

We don't ever compete against VT or OKS. Aren't rivals someone you play against yearly vs who wins the championship. Theoretically we can win or loose the NCAA championship and never wrestle an okie or hokie how is that a rival. My opinion.

I agree. It's been nearly decade since we competed against either of them in a dual meet. At the time, most of our wrestlers were in elementary school.

Yeah I tend to agree, however Oly shirts are not quite the same as Cael jokeying shirts to optimize the lineup in any given year.

We could see nearly a half dozen PSU starters take an Oly RSs to focus on freestyle and I don't see Cael stepping in to squash any Olympic dreams. Not that OSU and VT won't have their own candidates as well.

Maybe that's the year Tan Tom, or TnT do have a chance?!!!

Being eligible for an Olympic redshirt and using one are very different things. Not everyone, in fact I would predict not a majority, who qualify for an Olympic RS will use them.

Aaron Brooks is a great example of someone who believed (rightly so) that staying in wrestling shape via Folkstyle while working Freestyle in the PSU room and offseason was the path… ORS will be used as much for roster juggling as true training for Olympics in my opinion.

If you were banned you wouldn't be allowed to post here either. On3 ban is for all on3. Rivals was board specific .
Yikes.

Signing out then back on changed nothing. When I click thru to my profile from HR it makes no distinction between the sites.

Yep and it wont. On3 everything is one. It gives mods way to much power . But you can just make a new email and name with On3 . Rivals you couldn't

The beauty of it is that there may not be room in the lineup for all the guys like Connor Mirasola, Will Henckel, and/or Jayden James, probably more between now and then as well. Ya gotta milk all those redshirts that you can.

OSU is killing it with recruiting and will continue to fill holes over the next couple of years to complete the picture.

Next year's PSU team is likely as good or better than this year, but once Ono, Mitch, SVN all move on I think we lose 20-30 points even with a strong pipeline, while OSU gains the same

Post next year, I see Vega, Jax and Ross as 'potentially' finalist peers with whomever we roll out, but definitely in the conversation - might they start for PSU? Lots of other potential high AAs in Robideau, Both Raneys, Lockett, Zinkin....

3 finalist and 8ish overall AAs certainly brings them into the conversation and my money would have them a bit stronger than that 2 years from now.

With an Oly year in the mix and the flood of potential Oly redshirts hitting our squad, I would not be shocked at another "punt" year down the road, and a bit of a gift to OSU and/or VT.

Penn State is never punting again. For one thing the transfer portal can immediately fix a hole or two should one develop.

PSU has gotten recruiting and timing down pat. We have exactly what we need coming in next few years. James next year and Sidun, Burnett, Managano, and Shepherd the following one

A Competitive rivalry makes wrestling more fun, if you’re a Penn state fan I sure you love watching the lions crush everyone else, as a Penn state supporter but not for hard fan - it isn’t more fun watching a competitive duals. I think any and all programs have at least 5 years before they catch Penn state. It depends how well this freshman class does in 2026? I think if they do exceptionally well it will attract more recruits, but in no way do I believe David Taylor has the same leadership capacity as Carl and staff do. Good, yes. Great, maybe. Ceal status? Never.

I'm pretty sure Iowa wrestling has been killed. Less than a week from nationals, and yesterday there were fewer than 200 posts on the wrestling forum, over half of which were in the thread about 'who's Iowa's next coach?'

Now to be sure, it's not as quiet as the OK State site, which should probably be named "Boot Hill" rather than "34 and Counting." I just sorta blame that on my experience with Oklahomans, who like Kansans, can be a pretty dour lot. But man, it's pretty stunning how quickly people have disengaged.

I've been batting two recurring thoughts around my mind about Oklahoma State. The second of which is hardly original, but I haven't seen stated outright.

1. On Sunday morning, after we've won the national championship by 80 or more points, with lots of national champions, there are going to be a bunch of OkState casuals walking around dazed and confused as to why DT didn't deliver on a national championship, or even come close for that matter. Many of their fans are sophisticated enough to know that what DT is doing is going to take some time, but there will be some hung over cowboys and cowgirls, wondering how it wasn't at least closer.
2. In order to buy into the hype about their young guys delivering a national championship in two or three years, you also have to believe that PSU's young guys won't develop, or that DT can develop better. I don't doubt that the hype has a lot of their fans believing both to be true. DT didn't significantly develop Hamiti, nor Hendrickson, so until some of their young guys win NCs, it remains hype. I mean, they stand a real chance of having fewer NCs this year than last, which might add to point 1 above.

Will they become our rival? Likely. Will we be batting NCs back and forth in a few years? Seems unlikely.

Agree. Think he’ll be more than Top 5 though after a Redshirt year.
Elijah is #77 on Flo’s 2026 big board, and he won the PA state championship 1-0. Compare this with, say, Jayden James who I believe teched his way through, demolishing everyone.

why is everyone so high on Brown? Don’t get me wrong, I hope you are right, but I just don’t see it at all.

It is why Cael is the coach and you aren’t. Peaking in high school is not the goal. If I recall correctly, Mitchell was ranked in the 50s and Carter wasn’t ranked in top 10. Projecting growth and talent development are hard — our coaches are the best at it. In Cael We Trust.

It's not like Cael hand-selected Brown over Ross or Mocco, PSU needed a HWY while all the top '26 guys were solidly committed elsewhere and there are no studs in the '27 class. Might as well take a flyer on a guy who has the frame and a high athletic ceiling. I could see either scenario for Brown; he becomes a total stud who is a high placer for 2yrs after Mirasola or is a 1yr starter who never AAs.

i think most reasonable oks fans will be pleased with their team results if they are 3 or better

As to the near/medium term hype, i don't know that there's a basis to believe it or disbelieve it at this point, as he really hasn't had a long enough horizon to evaluate his 'development'. And in the medium/long term realm, certainly fair enough to always be cautious about recency bias when considering PSU's future. I tend to think it'll be a pretty good fight in a few years.

One of my best friends played for the Dallas Cowboys in the early 80's. When he realized he probably would never actually get in a game he decided to go to the Iowa Medical School. He became a top notch Urologist (which has helped tremendously with my bladder cancer), but we have had a friendly rivalry for over 25 years. The other day he called and wanted to do something this Friday evening. I explained that no I would be busy watching the NCAA wrestling championships. His response was "Why do you want to watch that? You know they are going to win anyways. Don't you get tired of just watching them win all the time?". I thought for a moment and said "No... no I do not"

If you could time machine back about, oh, four or five years or so, the old HR wrestling board on Rivals was far and away the most heavily used board there was.
One of their better posters, who had the screen name of AZChief at the time, had sort of a signature line: "They hate us cause they ain't us".
Believe he became a moderator under the IA Chief screen name although I don't remember seeing him recently. Maybe he left too.

You're replying to Spyker. Rationality left the building.

Brown is a good, buy low prospect. He is unlikely to supplant Mirasola but can be a viable successor. And so that is what we should be looking at -- how good can he be in 2029 and 2030, presumably grown to 6-5/250+.

Flo rankings, caveat emptor. IIRC Willie had him top 30, which is much more reflective.

He's not Jayden James but if that's the measuring stick ... the last HWT Jayden James was Steveson in 2018.

Not many recruits will measure up to James. He's going to be special. Forrest who rated higher is the 1 seed at NCAAs and Bassett is expected to do big things. Brown's frame gives him big upside. Will be an exciting wrestler to follow.

I agree with his upside. I wouldn’t sleep on Brown just bc the guru’s don’t have him ranked higher
