iPads, which one should I get

Here is what I need and what I would use it for:
  • Reading books and comic books
  • At least 64GB of storage space (comic books can take up a lot of space)
  • Watching Netflix or digital copies of movies I have on Flixster or VUDU
  • Occasionally playing simple games like Angry Birds and the like, you know nothing with bleeding edge graphics
Literally do not care about anything else I can do with an iPad.

So which iPad should I get? Probably will look at getting a refurbed or used one. Or if you have a non-iPad tablet recommendation I'd take that too.

I currently have the Amazon Fire tablet, but I'm growing tired of it sucking, basically.

Tablets can be hit or miss in my opinion. I don't buy Apple products, so I can't help you with that. I think they are way overpriced. What size tablet did you want? I have had great luck with my Nexus 7. Great quality screen and still going strong after about 2 years. It is Google branded so I believe it gets the software updates first. The rumor is that there is a new version coming out this year with the newest version of Android. My only criticism with my tablet is the lack of sd card slot. I'd rather have a sd card slot then pay for the internal memory. You can get a 64GB sd card online for under $20. To upgrade a tablet from 32 to 64 they will charge you probably an extra $100. If you can get one with an sd card slot you can get a 32GB and throw in 64GB of additional storage for like $20.

I used to own a Nexus 7, got rid of it a few years ago. 7" screen is kinda small for reading comic books though, as I have discovered with my Amazon Fire. At least 64GB of space is needed unless the tablet has an SD card slot (like the Amazon Fire does)

An ipad air or ipad air 2, 64gb for around 300 or 400$ respectively. Onsale or refurb used, there will be sales with new ipads coming out soon.

The ipad is significantly better than the android competition in a variety of important ways, but if you do go android the newest Nexus and Galaxy tabs are ok.

Unfortunately Nexus ones always lack the storage space. If storage space wasn't an issue then I'd be all over the Nexus 9.

I had a Galaxy tablet once, and my experience with it can best be summed up by the following: I will never buy another Samsung product of any sort and the world would be a better place if Samsung had never existed.

Didn't realize the NVIDIA Shields were so cheap now. A 16GB one with a microSD card slot is only $199 new on Amazon. Heard lots of good things about them so looking like that is what I'm going to get sometime in the near future. Might see if I can get a good quality used one on the cheap somewhere.

Not sure what the need for ipads and tablets are anymore. cellphones have turned into phablets, offering 6 inch screens, and aside from being a bit smaller than a tablet, they do all the same stuff and more.

Not sure where iPads and tablets fall into place anymore. Phablet, High end desktop, ultrabook for mobility.. and you're set.

I have a phone with a 5.7 inch screen with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. It's a pretty ****** experience for reading comic books unless you want to be constantly zooming in and out and dragging the page across the screen. Tablet with an 8 inch screen is great for it, and watching movies and TV shows on a tablet is much better than on a phone.

Yeah if you're a reader, having a tablet or kindle is pretty important. But for me, I'm either reading physical magazines (I will always love the feel and experience of a magazine that I just don't get on an electronic) or IT training manuals.

For movies and TV, I prefer to watch on a customized home theater. Ipad is nice for travel or watching in bed.. but otherwise, if you're a movie or TV fan, you want to watch on a 60inch flatscreen with proper sound.

Oh yeah I definitely prefer to watch movies/TV on a TV, but a tablet comes in real handy when when traveling or are otherwise away from a TV.

Get the iPad Air 2...it has the A8 processor with 2gb of ram. It also has less glare on the screen than the iPad Air1.
