People threatening to riot if Darryl is killed will only push Kirkman over the edge. I don't think Darryl is long for this world.

Having read the comics since the beginning, IMO Kirkland is a slave to the story. He's not above killing anyone if it serves the saga. Having listened to many interviews of him as well and reading the letters column in the column, he absolutely is the type to take up a "you can't kill them ever" type of challenge just for the grins of it. No one is off limits in all likelihood. Hell, Rick has been walking around with one hand and Carl with one eye for years in the comic books.

I'm willing to bet that he doesn't kill Darryl until the show is nearing its end. I think that differences between the show and the books works in his favor, as it causes fans of both to be more inclined to move from one medium to the other. Obviously, Darryl is a huge difference between the two.
