Is Booker getting enough touches?

I was focused in on Devin against Missouri especially in the second half. He was open many times on the wing and calling for the ball. Several times it was almost as if they were avoiding him. Probably not a big issue, but if you go back and watch the game again it it pretty obvious. As hot as Booker has been when he is open and even set for a 3 pointer he seldom gets the the ball. It swings to the opposite side of the court. Aron and Andrew will get twice as many touches as Booker. And Booker is far and away the best shooter on the team. Just an observation. Love our team!

In my opinion, simple answer is that Booker needs more shots. I agree he is left open a lot ready to shoot. He is clearly our best offensive threat and to not utilize it as much as possible is crazy. It will come though I believe

i'm pretty sure booker played with Ulis and Lyles mostly in the missouri game.

So i'm not sure what you are talking about him being open while Aaron and Andrew gets twice as many touches....

Also, booker has tendency to be passive. It's his own fault a lot of times not getting the shot.

Sooner or later (probably sooner) smart opposing coaches are going to start zeroing in on Booker. When this happens, look out cause the inside game is going to open up in a big way.

Booker needs more touches. He doesn't have to shoot but just his offensive ability will open up more shots for his teammates.

This guy did not even watch the game.

Booker plays with Ulis most of the time he is in there.

This is just another example of dumb UK fans attacking the Harrisons for no good reason.

I only remembered him taking two shots against Missouri and he made both. He deffinitly needs to shoot more but I thought he just didn't want to light up his dad's Alma mater. Maybe just wanted to be respectful to a school that recruited him and let everyone else score.

If he is open from the three, then he should take it or fake and drive for a good shot.

You have to look at the big picture. If everyone concentrated on passing to Booker, and he made most of the points when he is hot, then other candidates for NBA draft chances go down. Keeping the balance is important in the eyes of the coaching staff.

Really? "Keeping the balance" wins basketball games.

I am watching one of he most unselfish teams in UK history and you only see..........."if Booker makes the most points, the other candidates for NBA draft chances go down."

Have you looked at the projected draft? It doesn't matter who scores, the scouts look at more than points.

I think you need to look at the big picture.

I noticed this as well during the game but I blew it off as maybe the team was working on something more than an outside shot. But the OP is correct in his observation .

I thought the same thing during the game. It looked to me like Ulis was looking for Lyles a lot more than Booker.

Obviously I do not know the reason and do not take this as clutter or discontent. Just something I noticed during the game.

If the offense is flowing smoothly and the ball is moving side to side and inside to outside, all players should get plenty of looks. If he is open he should shoot, best shooter on team!

I definitely noticed this during the second half of the Mizzou game. It was actually bizarre how Ulis was not feeding him the ball and my assumption was that it was due to Cal's DEMAND that guards feed the ball to the interior players more often.

Regardless, Booker needs more shots and more touches. He has the type of scoring talent that can single-handedly put a game out of reach.

Simple answer: NO. I think any observer of this team with basic basketball knowledge can see that Booker should be getting more shots, and the Harrisons fewer.

And I think that will gradually happen more and more as the season goes on. Cal will get that shot balance thing worked out by tourney time.

We were relentlessly trying to get the ball into the post the other night. Dakari was the main focus on offense for the second platoon.

On the first platoon Aaron got some clean shots, but they bait Aaron into a lot of those. They cheat out on Booker quite a bit, which should--and will as we go along--make Dakari's life a whole lot easier.

Ulis and Booker and best friends. They have played with each other for years. They know each other's moves (all according to the Booker and Ulis interview that I saw). So, the easiest thing for Ulis to do would be for him to pass it to Booker. Therefore, my guess is that Cal was telling him to do something else, like feed the paint. Maybe we were so far ahead, he wanted to give the guys some more real time practice inside and try to get back to scoring in the paint, which has been lacking since the UL game. When is the last time we made an alley oop?

He's second on the team in scoring and 3rd in FGA despite having played fewer minutes than the players with the first, second, fourth, fifth, and sixth most shots. Booker takes 0.35 shots per minute, second to Aaron's 0.43 spm. Third place are Lyles and Towns at 0.29 spm.

So since he plays with Ulis, you think that he keeps the ball away from him? Honestly I think he just doesn't take as many bad shots anymore. Plus I think Cal wants the bigs to get more looks.

The team is going to have different phases throughout the season to make sure they work on any kind of weaknesses they have. It's all working toward March. Not only do you want everyone getting shots and playing time, but you want to work on different sets and offenses so we can adapt to anything in the tournament.

I thought he got several touches, just not enough shots. The post needs to pass out of the middle to the corner when Booker is open. Dakari is the one who misses that pass the most, and he's the main center out there when Booker is in.

Utter nonsense. Booker has stated flatly that they are playing against themselves and not even worried about their opponents.
