IOWA may be in search of a new head Basketball coach and guess who at the top of their list

It is always tempting to go home. We just did it on the football side and with Huggins about 20 years ago. So personally, I won't be hypocritical if he decides to leave for a great opportunity. Hope he doesn't as I really like him as our coach.

First phone call could be made to Northwestern head coach Chris Collins. Collins is the only head coach to lead Northwestern to the NCAA Tournament, having accomplished it three times, including in each of the past two seasons. He knows Big 10. The 50-year old Collins would fit nicely as the head Hawk.

Matt Gatens: He might not be ready for this big of a challenge if Fran McCaffery were to step down in the next year or two. But at some point, the 34-year-old Matt Gatens will be a college head coach. He helped rebuild the Iowa program in the early years under Fran McCaffery as a sharpshooting all-Big Ten guard. Matt Gatens also grew up in Iowa City and committed to Iowa.

Devries will not be first call.
