The biggest POS of all time,
Closely followed by Mitch McConnell?

House majority, along with Mitch being majority leader of the senate.. SEKY hasn't progressed in 30 years.

Who's at fault here? The 119 stretch from Bell Co to Harlan Co is in desperate need of work. The stretch on 421 from Cranks,ky to the Virginia line is in dead need of finishing. All while building a road in a county of 16,000 that only 200 people per day travel.. Why not open avenues to I-26 and I-81.. With I-75 being a short distance in Corbin?

Harlan County is the only county in the state that does not have a single 4 lane road entering the county. Hal and Mitch have done zero for Eastern KY other than in their own communities.

Harlan County, only behind Pike co produced the highest coal severance tax in the state. While the Majority stayed in the central to western parts of the state, Harlan Co has been shytted on. Hal Rodgers is a joke. As is Mitch McConnell

Just want to add that the Rogers Scholar program was essentially just worshipping him every 45 minutes. One of the oddest experiences of my life.

I've only had a problem getting from Pineville to Harlan once, when they were trying to back a double wide up a hill. And I've always wondered where that bridge goes on the way (may actually be in Bell county).

Is this post some kind of passive agressive way to say that putting a 4 lane road into harlan would make business take off? Because I'll say... That some dumber than normal **** logic, even for a fly by paddock poster.

Not defending Rogers or Mitch, but Harlan Co isn't the only County without a 4 lane road.
I live in the Jackson Purchase, and neither Carlisle nor Hickman have a 4 lane Rd entering.

The Purchase Parkway runs through Hickman according to their county map, but you are correct on Carlisle. Know for a fact that Harlan is the only county in Eastern and Central KY, but not as familiar with Western.

Politicians nowadays only care about staying politicians. This may have been a good thing back in the day as it would mean they were helping their populations, but nowadays with social media and the 24-7 news cycle and all that crap, the people are strangely enough less informed than ever. So they end up voting for people for things they can understand - i.e. stupid social things that have no meaning except to gain popularity like being against gay marriage, being for bathroom bills to not allow transexuals to use the bathroom (can you believe that became a thing?), prayer in schools etc. and now politics is just a stupid mess.

You're right, I forgot it does catch the corner of Hickman, although there are no exit or entrance ramps to it in Hickman Co.

Left KY almost 9 years ago and do not follow local politics there like I used to. But, seems to me this is how it has always been. Not just in EKY but in other rural areas in WV and Ohio. These are the forgotten people in many ways. It is a real shame.

When I moved to SW FL Rand Paul was just beginning to run for his first term and he made it a pint of emphasis that EKY did not need any monetary assistance to combat the rampart addiction problems that have devastated that region of the state. That told me about all I needed to know. I know that was Paul's thing-- no govt money should pay for anything-- but it still left a very bad taste in my mouth.

Legalize drugs. Use the tax money to fund rehab programs. Quit criminalizing and rehab it. The tax on it would be paid for by users only.

One thing is for damn sure. The Federal Gov't will never win this war. They can't arrest their way out of this problem.

Worm Farming > "Bring back coal!"
Coal severance paid for many of the amenities you see in Fayette County and they are beginning to feel the budget tightening due to the loss of coal jobs. Coal was at its best in years before Obama came into play and strengthened the EPA and to be honest even with Trump at the helm it is going to be hard to start back something that has already been shut down.

Coal has been declining for 40 years. Obama has been a nice scapegoat.

Hal Rodgers is in the same mold as Carl D. Perkins. 2 men who were in positions of power, yet failed to help their people, because their approach was flawed.

Rather than teach people how to fish, they gave people the fish. It turned some of the hardest working people on the planet into lazy, generational check drawers. Basically a case study on the ineptitude of handouts and their inability to better an individual or a region.

As an aside, Id love to see the EKY data in regards to public assistance and social security in the area since Rodgers took office. I bet its astronomical.

Do you live in the eastern Kentucky coal belt? I'm guessing no because if you did then you would have seen first hand how booming the coal business had been during the 90's and early 2000's. The myth that coal has been failing for 30-40 years has been created by the same media who email the DNC their stories for approval before releasing them.

Lots of counties in WKy lack a 4 lane highway entering. Crittenden, Union, McLean, and further east Breckinridge.

You are correct. Like I said...not familiar with western but am aware there are many counties that are small country landscape. Apparently the only county comment was pertaining to eastern KY counties.

Wow. You're a moron. Funny when you imbeciles argue against HARD FACTS because you've been brainwashed by coal companies.

How much scrip did they pay you for your propaganda filled post?

See the graph. I guess Obama was elected in 1990?

It's sad you all get access to the internet. Terrifying, really.

No offense, but your graph proves exactly what he said, and that was coal production was doing well in the 90's and early 2000's

Hell, that may have been the peak production of it, but your chart only goes to 1980

Crazy, thats 2 different charts, with 2 different sets of criteria. Your first accurately reflected the mans comment about Eastern KY. The second is a US chart, one is amount of coal produced in KY, the other is number of miners in the US.
