I'd be looking around March 11-12th after the first round of the SEC tournament.

Ray's recent quote with GC shows his mindset in the 12 agonizing years he was AD. Who cares if we suck and keep finishing last in the conference because Lamont has proven years ago he can coach. He needs more time. But hopefully Donati changes the culture and this type of garbage thinking.

“It is cyclical. I believe that. It happens that way,” Tanner said, speaking to the media about his induction into the College Baseball Hall of Fame on Saturday. “There’s ups and downs. We were talking about men’s basketball this morning a little bit with one of my friends, and just a couple years ago, Lamont (Paris) won 26 games. So, did he forget how to coach? No. I mean, things happen.”

I agree he didn't forget how to coach. He's playing with hamburger meat while other coaches are playing with steaks. Until NIL increases no coach will have any long term success. It's the way business is run today.

We more than doubled the NIL he had from last season. The problem is we have to overpay for even bad talent to want to come here. Kids want to win, so they don’t wanna play for Paris because 3 of 4 seasons have been AWFUL

I've read and heard mention of 4.5 NIL? Rates at bottom 3 of league. What number did you hear and from what source?

Mike Morgan recently said LSU and SC were at the bottom 2 of the SEC in NIL spent on basketball. And we gave him the money he requested to that he thought could put together a competitive roster. The problem is that everyone in the SEC raised their NIL budget. I have a friend that is a producer at a news station and he mentioned that no additional money was requested to try and entice better players, but that we would have to severely overpay because no one is interested in playing here that would move the needle. Money shouldn’t be a hindrance, but we have a coach that isn’t plugged in enough to know what it’s going to take to win, and doesn’t care about NIL to be out fundraising.

Our best season worked out because of an abundance of local kids that were good (Mack, Cooper, CMB, Wright, Davis) and then got more than we bargained for with Meechie. Since then, we’ve found nothing remotely like that and Paris has changed the identity of the team from a Frank Martin team last season to a TEMU version of the 2023-24 team.

LP assembled this team to win by raining in 3 while all the other teams got good big men who could rebound. The problem is they can't make any 3 point shots and that is on LP for not getting any good big men

Yet, he fired Muschamp, Martin and 2 baseball coaches after "things happened".

I’m not a Ray Tanner basher . . . BUT. . . saying results are just cyclical sounds suspiciously like he’s saying “if Donati has success, it’s just because, you know, success is cyclical.”

LP or Maineri or both?
Time to clean house and start over?
We hire the young and inexperienced or the old and past their prime. I hope Donati is the answer.

Manieri has to go after 3 games and what we've already heard from him. There were bad things from the dug out after last year, which should have been a warning. I also heard from sources close to the team that he isn't that interested in home grown talent either. That in itself is enough for me to pause.

I'm hearing talk that Paris won't be fired, that the school will make a deeper commitment to NIL and bring him back to avoid the payout.

We better be prepared to make one heckuva commitment to NIL. Three of Lamont's 4 seasons have been historically awful. Nevertheless, the notion persists that he can coach.

We need donors for NIL. It's going to be hard to convince donors to give to NIL after seeing the product on the court the last 2 seasons. If we take a couple or more brutal beatings down the stretch, that could force Donati's hand.

Nothing I have seen leads me to believe he just needs better players. IF he could coach, we'd see progress throughout the season. Last season's team was a suckfest from start to finish. This year's team is just as bad.

Not sure LP or Mainieri even care
Or is even trying in Lamont's case.

There's not a single good thing anyone can say about last year's team or this year's team. We are very bad at everything a basketball team needs to be good at.

We may not want to fire LP due to the buyout cost, but what's the cost for a total roster overhaul? One that will lead to an NCAAT?

Well as much as i agree this Paris experiment is a disaster, However the Maneri Experiment is just as bad, if not worse!! SC has had one or two above average years in basketball history, However Baseball was on teh verge of being called a Dynasty, Now look at them!! total dumpster fire!!

He can coach one end of the court. Hint: it's not the end you score on.

Then maybe we can win 3 conference games next year.

This is what happens when donors and fans support losing without holding administration accountable.

You end up with a lot of losing.

From what I heard, if we finish bottom two of the conference, he's done. Barring a miracle run in the SECT.
